After reading Out of Africa, nice to see the mountains so nicely described in the book. Karen Blixen loved those mountains that she could see from her balcony

The Ngong Hills are situated near Nairobi, near Karen. One can go by car and it is around a 30 minutes drive outside on Ngong Road. You will need to get a ticket to enter and will also be required to take a forest guard with you. After the first stop of buying a ticket, you proceed to the next level a few Kilo-meters further, where you can park your vehicle and proceed for the hike. Make sure you have your water bottle with you as there is nothing available i side. There are a total of 7 hills that you can climb. The first one apparently the toughest and than the fifth one. You climb up and cone down, than tackle the second one and so on. If your are fit, you will be able to cover all of them in say around 5 plus hours for the round trip. If you are not super fit, you should be able to cover a few hills going and coming back. There is a spot in the beginning near the first hill for zip lining. Overall you can pass a good 4 or 5 hours on a Sunday or Saturday.

Well, just visit this place! The scenery is just out of this world. From the hills, the rotating turbine and you feel like you on top of Nairobi City... There's an activity there... Zip lining which is just amazing! The area is cold coz of the wind. There's a restaurant too... It's a nice place to spend a boring afternoon at.

Ngong hills is a great place to unwind yourselves and connect with nature. It is a series of the 7 small hills that one can hike in about 3-4 hrs from start to end and back. The beauty of the hills is that you can choose to hike what you'd like to - there are no strict starting and end points. You can start either from the entrance or drive up one hill and start as well. The top of the first few hills house windmills and is a great sight to behold. Obviously, it is very windy at the top - you may want to carry a light jacket with you. It is also a great place to picnic with your loved ones.

It is bicycle friendly too.

Although a little far from Nairobi city on the outskirts of town, Ngong Hills is a nice getaway to see the stunning views of the rolling green hills.
