“Freddy's Safaris - Honest, professional, first-class service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2009

We went on a 3 day (2 nights) safari to Tsavo East & West with Freddy's Safaris. It was fantastic!! We payed a bit extra for the 4x4 safari for just the two of us and it was well worth the extra money.

We emailed Freddy, who replied within a few hours, with a list of safaris and prices (which were very reasonable). I had read on Trip Advisor that Tsavo East & Amboseli were the best Parks, near Mombasa, to see big game, so we emailed Freddy to indicate that was where we wanted to go. Despite the fact that this was only a week before we were due to fly out, he told us that was no problem.

Freddy picked us up outside our hotel (Bamburi Beach Hotel) on the day we arrived, as we'd arranged, and took us to his office a few minutes down the road. I was a bit nervous about this, but needn't have worried as he made us very welcome and couldn't have been more professional.

He explained to us that Amboseli was a few more hours travelling, away from Mombasa, than Tsavo was and wanted to make sure we were aware of that before we booked as it would have meant less time looking at animals, and lots of hours on the road. This was news to us, and we were glad he told us. He had no problem in changing our booking for us when we changed our mind. He also had no problem with us paying half cash and half credit-card.

The safari itself was fantastic. Muhammed our driver/guide was very knowledgable about the animals and showed us giraffes, elephants, ostrich, buffalo, antelope, zebra, babboons, a tortoise, hippos... but not rhino :-( They were hiding that day!

We stayed at Voi Safari lodge on the first night and Ngulia the second. Ngulia was the nicer of the two and they hang meat out on a tree at night for the local leopard. When it comes at night to eat they knock on your door so you can see it feed.

All meals were supplied for the whole three days, and there was plenty of bottles of water in the jeep for us to drink.

Overall it was an amazing experience and we would highly recommend booking through Freddy, whichever safari you fancy.

Freddy’s Safari

Oct 6-20th Stayed at Travellers beach

We booked Freddy for our Safari from the UK, he was recommended by a friend at work and reading “trip advisor” there was not a bad review in sight.

We e-mailed Freddy for a listing of his excursions (which are not solely restricted to safaris) and we received a comprehensive listing, about 35 pages, we asked him which safari he thought would give use the best chance of seeing the big five with our budget. He advised us 3 day Tsavo East and West. We wanted have a private hire van, once we arrived and see the jeep we changed our mind. Freddy sorted out one other couple for us to go with, thus we could afford the jeep and got some money back.

Freddy met us on the first day of our holiday outside the main gate, as not allowed to enter the grounds. He took us the short journey to his office and went through the itinerary, made us feel at ease straight away, answering any questions clearly and concisely. Once we was happy we then paid the balance we owed, minus the20% that we bank transferred to secure the trip.

The safari itself was fantastic our driver, George, must have heat sensors grafted to his eyes, if it had a pulse, and even if it didn’t, he would spot it. Explaining what each animal was and waiting patiently while we snapped and recorded away only moving off once we had our fill. A true gentleman!

In brief if you want to assist the local economy, not be rushed, have a knowledgeable guide at a good price you can’t go wrong booking with Freddy.

We WILL be back................

“Excellent 5 day Safari Honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2009

We spent our honeymoon in Kenya in the middle of October. Having booked everything by ourselves including flights, hotel and safari, straight from our home country Romania, we were a little bit unsure of what we will find. We used Tripadvisor a lot to check for reviews and suggestions. This way we found out about Freddy Safaris company, which had a lot of good reviews and recommendations in a lot of threads.
We contacted Freddy by email, got the list of prices including parks and accommodations. We agreed on a 5 day custom made, private safari into Tsavo East and West, Amboseli, and one day at Taita hills and Saltlick Lodge. We met Freddy at the airport where he was waiting for us and introduced us to our driver, Beka. Both of them were very friendly and made us feel that we made the perfect choice for the safari right from the start. We then spent the next 5 days at Voi lodge, Ngulia, Ol Tukai and Saltick. All the reservations and meals were made by Freddy in advance so everything was waiting for us. We liked all the places and enjoyed each specific location. We had a mini-van just for the two of us and felt it was more than enough. They are comfortable and a lot more enduring than anyone can think after having a first look.
We had a great safari and saw 4/5 big five, having a lot of luck with the lions, which we saw a lot of, even with cubs. Got unlucky in the rhino sanctuary, having a bit of bad weather as no one saw anything that afternoon. Nothing to worry about, just another reason to come back and use Freddy`s services once again. Got a lot of information from our driver and guide who was very experienced and willing to adjust to our needs and schedule. At the end of the safari he drove us to the hotel were we were supposed to stay even if it meant another hour drive.
It was a great honeymoon safari and we would recommend Freddy to everyone searching for a perfect safari at a fair price.

“[-] It was "EXCELLENT"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2009

6th - 20th October 2009 Stayed at Bamburi Beach Hotel in Kenya. We had a great time and cannot fault the hotel or food the Kenyan people are loveley and will do all that they can to help with anything. I would recomend this hotel!!!!!!! The beach boys do want to sell you goods and I found them very interesting people who wanted to learn so much about England. The best part of our holiday was a two night and three day safari which I booked from the UK before I left. On trip advisor there was many excellent comments about Freddyssafaris, so I emailed him and he replied straight away with his costs and paperwork showing all his trips we choose Tsavo East and West. from start to finish we had an amazing time the guide we had was George and what a knowledge he had about life in Kenya , info concerning all of the the animals and anything in General. This Company are 100% genuine and professional and I would recomend them 100% when you compare the cost that your hotel rep wants for the same trip you will be glad of getting in touch with Freddy first. I will gladly answer any questions. I have attached Freddys email address for anyone that wants to give it a try.
