“Best location if you are attending event at CNCC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2011

The second and third levels provide access directly to the CNCC. Great room and room facility, everything as fitted to the InternContinental standard. The lobby cafe offers great buffet. Do note that the train station is closed at this point. So access to downtown needs to be mindful of peak hour traffic as that is the only means.

Excellent hotel with indoor walkway access to the China National Convention Center (CNCC) which is right next door to the hotel. Also very easy access to and from the Beijing airport. Beautiful lobby, outstanding cafe with world-class, abundant buffet for breakfast and lunch. Hotel rooms were spacious, clean, and well appointed. Hotel staff was friendly, efficient, and all speak excellent English. I rate it lower on value because room rates are on the high side. Don't miss taking a tour through the Birds Nest, Water Cube, and Olympic village. Also an easy drive to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall (about a 50 minute drive and much better than the more crowded, closer wall attraction.)

Room Tip: Request a room on the south end facing the Water Cube and Olympic grounds.

I stayed for three nights at the InterConti Beichen in Beijing for a conference. The easy access to the CICC is of course a big plus, if youa ttend a conference there. There is a air conditioned bridge connecting the hotel and the conference, so no need to even leave the hotel. The other big attraction a few hundred meters away is the big Olympic Park and the "bird's nest" stadium. If you want to go shopping or visit the touristic attractions of Beijing, you need a cab and calculate about 30 -60 minutes to the Forbidden City / Tiananmen Square. (Morning and Afternoon traffic can be very bad)
The service at the BeiChen InterConti was absolutely flawless, from the pick-up at the airport to the drop at the Highspeed Railway Station, I always felt very much taken care of. The rooms are the typical 5-star standard - very comfortable; Internet connectivity was very fast. I had a Club room, which gives you access to the Club floor, where a decent selection of cocktails and snacks is served (compimentary) in the evening.
Only downside was the restaurant service in the Italian Restaurant, which was not only slow, but also not very competent in the stuff they are offering. The food was cold or lukewarm at best when it arrived at the table.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the view towards the stadium (Bird's Nest), which is illuminated very nicely...

The room, facilities, staff and food were all very good.

on top of those, i had a room that faced the water cube (shui li fang), which looked magnificent at night.

Thank you very much for your short but point right feedback. The view from our guest rooms directly onto the Olympic Aquatic Centre is unrivalled, specially in the night when it is illumated. So for our review readers - when making bookings ensure you book room "with water cube view". We look forward to welcome you soon again.

Enjoyed my stays at this hotel. Nothing to complain about the hotel & it's facilities. However, given that it's situated right next to the Olympic Bird's Nest & Water Cube, there isn't much amenities near the hotel.

So, if you're one who does not want to eat in the hotel, the nearest food outlets will be at least 1km away.

Very nice luxurious hotel and worthy of the Intercon badge. Situated next to the 'Birds Nest' and 'Water Cube' Olympic venues for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this hotel is away from the crazy traffic of downtown Beijing. These 2 venues and the Olympic lantern tower are great landmarks to visit at least once, especially at night when they are beautifully lighted up.

However, it is not near (not walking distance) many amenities like convenience stores, restaurants or malls. Good as a upclass business hotel but not nearly a good base for tourists who like to walk about and explore the city. Heart of the city (Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Wangfujing etc) is about 40-60mins away by taxi. Other shopping and F&B districts such as Sanlitun and Dongzhimen are about 30mins away by taxi.

Service in the hotel is good, with English speaking staff who are willing to help you with your queries. So if you plan to be taking taxis or have a car to take you around Beijing, this is a great place to stay. If you're the type who likes everything nearby on foot, go for somewhere nearer 2nd or 3rd Ring.

Room Tip: There are not many grades of rooms and my 'upgrade' was a similar room size but better view.

A very nice hotel, with very good restaurants large and exceptional decorated rooms. The only problem is the location that is a bit away from the city center.
