I regularly use this hotel as a convenient stopover point in Beijing before catching an onward flight. It is clean and although facilities are basic I have no problem with this. Next door there is a Carrefour where drinks and snacks can be purchased cheaply, as well as a wide variety of restaurants. Breakfast is acceptable, rooms comfortable with English TV channels and spacious rooms. Not so good if you are a tourist. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Suites are good value.

Our flight out of Beijing departed at 7:00am & we wanted to get to the airport plenty early...to save a few minutes of time from city center, we chose to stay at this hotel. Agree with over reviewers this isn't the place to stay for tourism, but as a launching point to/from the airport it works just fine. In particular the food court downstairs was great - don't need to walk outside, from the hotel lobby walk to the Burger King entrance & you can get your kids some burgers or better yet walk to the 24 hour noodle place instead! Carre Forre is a good choice for last minute shopping, just in case you haven't already loaded up in town you can pick up plenty of good stuff here, as well as snacks for the flight out.

One tip, the hotel was able to get a taxi for us at 4:30am without a problem, just ask at the front desk. Staff's English was just fine.. We noticed outside our window there were two other cabs waiting from 3:30 on, this helped a bit with the panic!

If you are transiting Beijing and need somewhere not too far from the airport and you do not need to get into the city centre, this is a convenient place to rest up. One big advantage over other Holiday Inn Express hotels is that it has an arrangement with a nearby fitness centre so you can use their gym and swimming pool free of charge! Being next to Carrefour and other local shops (including Burger King and McDonalds if you are hankering after fast food!!) is also useful.

Although you do need to get a taxi to the hotel - and other reviewers have had problems with the taxi drivers not knowing the place - the easiest landmark is to say it is next to Carrefour on Guangshun bei dajie. It is of course best if you do know a little Chinese but even without Chinese you can ask someone at the airport to write down the address and the note about being next to Carrefour so you can show it to a taxi driver. It is important to make sure that the taxi driver from the airport goes by the meter, as they sometimes think this is so close that they begrudge going there and may ask you to pay 100 RMB rather than using the meter. By the meter, it should be in the region of 60 - 70 RMB but it does depend a bit on traffic and which route the taxi driver takes. On top of this is the 10 RMB toll fee for the motorway from the airport.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, with some who do speak some English. I have been impressed by their willingness to help in various ways, such as finding out where an office is located and how to get there, writing out the address in Chinese to show a taxi driver, and so on.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the quieter side of the building, not overlooking the main road.

This hotel is a perfect business hotel if you have meetings in this area : practical, efficient, wifi and free unlimited Internet acess.
The surroundings are mainly local shops and simple restaurants. It is also only 30 mn away from the airport by taxi.
However should you wish to visit Beijing as a tourist it is then suffering from it's outcentered location : the closest metro station is 10 mn away by taxi and a metro ride to the forbidden city is 45 mn with several line changes.

Stayed last Oct. 30, 2011 with family on a package tour .

Location: It is in an outskirt area between the airport and the downtown. Subway is quite far about 5 mins by taxi, be aware that most taxi drivers are not familiar with the hotel even with the hotel card shown. 7-11 and Carrefour Mart with several restaurants, drugstore, supermarket are around the corner which is very convenient.

Room: free in-room wifi, daily 2 bottles of water, sufficient lighting and luggage space. Downside - poor see-through glass wall design along the bath tub which leads to maintenance failure, moulds around the curtain, water-damaged wood design in/out of the glass wall.

4 elevators are more than sufficient and fast.

Front desk - does not speak basic English, no information on the nearby attractions.

Breakfast - boring just something to fill you up. Toast, congee, stir fry noodles, fruits, veggies, salads, juices, bun

Visit: 798 Art zone - around 5 mins by taxi, 18 RMB

This place is only good as a transit hotels, rooms are too small, no real bath tube there, only facilities to take shower. It can be used as a transit place only, good for 1 night. However this place is hard to find, our taxi driver spent 20 mins driving only to find it's location, while it was pretty close to the Beijing capital airport. Even after he got talk with hotels front and they explained him where to go. There is nothing to see around. You better speak some Chinese and get the instructions on how to get there in advance if you want no problems on your way to this hotel. Chinese drivers have problems with English. However if you picked up this hotel I wish you good luck finding it, maybe our taxi driver was a bit dumb, this could be an issue too :) however as an experienced visitor of Beijing I would suggest other hotels if you are going to spend few days in this huge city.
