I checked in almost a year ago now, so this is running off of memory.
The check-in process was quick and efficient. The staff seemed very friendly, but spoke very little English. Maybe think about staying elsewhere if you don't speak Chinese? They have a decent app on their phones which is similar to Google Translate, but it takes time, and is sometimes inaccurate. So it's essentially Google.
The rooms were very nice, but nothing to write home about. Comfortable beds, tvs, coffee, tea, or water, (I seem to remember some of the water bottles were complimentary, but not all of them).
The hotel isn't really central to anything. It's approximately a kilometer to the Summer Palace, but everything else is definitely driving distance away. It's sort of on the outskirts of Beijing. But on the plus-side, there is a nearby subway station that takes you basically anywhere you might want to go in the city. Signs on the subway are written in Chinese (obviously) but in English as well, so it's extra simple.
The big selling point of the hotel for me was the staff, especially the assistant manager, Zheng Qin, and a couple other employees, who treated me so well, despite me knowing basically no Chinese and being totally ignorant of everything around me.
They are the reason why I will return to the Century Huatian Hotel.More
