I sayed in this hostel for 2 nights last week, I had a very good experience. The room was nice and clean, warm thanks to the heater and the air condition. The bathroom inside the room was nice and the water was always hot. Good and kind staff.Very good location, close to the subway station and in a nice Hutong.

I stayed in a private room with private bathroom.
Pros- close to the metro, good sized room and bathroom, warm heaters for the cold Beijing temperatures in Autumn/Winter, close to a street full of restaurants and mini marts. Friendly service at the front desk, good English from reception. You can book tours as well. Big bed (2 singles pushed together, but comfortable).

Cons- Down a hutong (side alley) so is a little scary at first when trying to find the place in the dark! Also, very dark and not well lit inside the courtyard where the rooms are located. If youve booked other tours, you'll have to walk to a main street to be picked up, as most tour vans and taxis won't go down the hutong. No self-serve laundry facility- instead it's 20¥ a KG and laundry is done for you( guess that's a positive for some people!). The shower pressure wasnt great, and the shower had no shower curtain, and is right next to the toilet. Therefore, every shower the toilet ended up covered in water too!

Overall, a great place for the price. Don't expect 4-5 star luxury, but certainly not the worst hostel going around.

Staff was very friendly and helped us a lot. We arrived super early in the morning but could wait (and sleep...) in the common area until our room was ready, same was true for our departure day when we could leave our luggage until very late. The proximity to the metro station and the bike rental came in super handy. There are quite a few eateries near by and the overall location great. You can book day trips with the reception, the one to the Great Wall was well organised (pick-up at the hostel!) Our superior double was really nice and spacious - I would book it again on my next trip to Beijing.

Getting there was a bit tricky. The place is relatively easy to find, but make sure you have the address printed in Chinese. You have to convince the taxi driver to enter the Hutong alley, but there is actually no problem for cars to pass through. Beware that the alley is a one way street to be entered from the east side only.

The beds are clean but the bathrooms are not. We were in a 6 people room (we were 7 so we asked for an extra bed). The rooms are small, but if you are not going to spend much time in there it should not matter.

However, they are reaaaaally slow. It took them one hour and a half to prepare breakfast for 7 people, and this with us helping them carrying the things. Scrambled eggs and toasts with 3 coffees and 2 teas. Don't be mistaken, it was not because they did not know: the breakfast was booked in advance and when we arrived nothing was prepared.

Room Tip: They are reaaaally slow preparing breakfast. Eggs arrived cold and wet! Eat outside...

I am basing my rating on the price, the location, and staff. We stayed there early April. I was in group of 5 adults and one kid. I was the pseudo tour guide for our group. I reserved three rooms approximately 3-6 months before our arrival due to good ratings and exceptional price. We had two deluxe rooms, rooms 108 and 109. These were great rooms; spacious, king beds, clean, well furnished, unique, and quiet. The lounge/sofa in our room was good enough for our 12 year kid (but not likely adult, as pad was extremely thin). My mother rented a room with two twin beds (non deluxe), this room was adequate and clean (not as uniquely furnished as mine). The first night they had us in room 118, that had one king size bed, and a twin. This room was not uniquely furnished, nor as cute as our deluxe room. Plus this room was along the street, and was loud at times. All our rooms had a private bathroom. Overall, the staff were great (day staff had the best English knowledge). Day staff helped us get a taxi when we left (which was cheaper then our taxi drive on arrival). If you are picky, you might not like: remodeling debris, hard beds, bar and restaurant was not open (at least while we were there), street noise (if room is along the street). Overall, I would stay here again, and would recommend it to my friends (assuming they are not the Hilton type crowd). I enjoyed the neighborhood, with plenty of restaurants, and shops that you did not have to haggle (price marked is what you pay). Those seeking a reasonable and responsible car and driver check out Wendy Wang at easytravelby.com.

Room Tip: Rooms 108 and 109 are deluxe rooms, which were well furnished and unique.
