Carvings, calligraphy, authentic, not a tourist trap for the most part, highly recommended and picturesque

this once beautiful old street has been totally modified to recreate a perfect show-off for tourists and has lost most, if not all, of its ancient and authentic “charme”.

All the shops here sell goods related to chinese calligraphy, ink, paper, brushes, chinese books. There are some who sell snuff boxes and draw caricature. I was slightly disappointed as they did not look very inviting to me, I was expecting a very vibrant street. It was sparsely quiet on a Tues afternoon.

From a small shady square , you can stroll this lovely street full of calligraphy galleries, art galleries, and shops selling every kind of paper and calligraphy supply. The refinement of the art is reflected in the delicacy of the displays. Look for the giant brushes that bring to mind Harry Potter's broom! They have stamps of every kind, brush rests, and bowls. Even if you are not an artist these shops bring to life an ancient Chinese art form.

I hadn't been here for quite a while and there have been changes
It is now primarily art galleries and artist supplies... no more the "junk" or "antique"shops... nor was there anywhere to grab a drink
