Owner description: On this street packed with shops selling antiques and curios you'll find one of China's oldest and largest bookshops, selling vintage reprints of ancient texts as well as calligraphy supplies.

Great place to go shopping. The deeper you go, the better the deals. So many shops, its hard to remember where to go back for something you wanted. Forget the prices on the tags. Bargain hard is the norm. The place is very clean and safe. There were police officers everywhere. They seemed to not patrol around and stand in their own area. They are within shouting distances of each other so if something did happen, there could be officers coming to aid in either two or four other directions. The public bathroom are really clean. Semi modern too.The one I went into had squat toilets and one modern sit down one. Plenty of food spots everywhere and if you didn't want to sit down, there were plenty of street food available.

this once beautiful old street has been totally modified to recreate a perfect show-off for tourists and has lost most, if not all, of its ancient and authentic “charme”.

All the shops here sell goods related to chinese calligraphy, ink, paper, brushes, chinese books. There are some who sell snuff boxes and draw caricature. I was slightly disappointed as they did not look very inviting to me, I was expecting a very vibrant street. It was sparsely quiet on a Tues afternoon.

From a small shady square , you can stroll this lovely street full of calligraphy galleries, art galleries, and shops selling every kind of paper and calligraphy supply. The refinement of the art is reflected in the delicacy of the displays. Look for the giant brushes that bring to mind Harry Potter's broom! They have stamps of every kind, brush rests, and bowls. Even if you are not an artist these shops bring to life an ancient Chinese art form.
