Owner description: Launched in November 2007, Cotai Water Jet is a premium high-speed ferry service between Hong Kong and Macao. As of Dec 2017, the maritime jet fleet has serviced more than 67 million passengers and in 2017 averaged approximately 94 daily sailings. Its 14 custom-built catamarans have the capacity to carry more than 400 passengers each and operate at top speeds of approximately 42 knots. Passengers on Cotai Water Jet have a choice of three classes of service as well as direct sailings between ports in Macao, Taipa, Hong Kong, Kowloon and Hong Kong International Airport, thus providing an important transportation option for both locals and visitors to Macao. The Cotai Water Jet service is managed and operated on behalf of owner Sands China Ltd. by Chu Kong High Speed Ferry Co. Ltd. of Hong Kong.

Cotai Water Jet is one of two companies, along with TurboJet, that presently provide Hong Kong <> Macau ferry service. You can book tickets directly on their website or ticket booths at any of the ferry terminals in either HK or Macau.

Most of their sailings take place between the HK-Macau Ferry Terminal (Sheung Wan, HK Island) and the Cotai Ferry Terminal (Cotai Island) with regular sailings throughout the day.

If we are staying at properties along or near the Cotai Strip in Macau, we prefer to take Cotai Water Jet. Otherwise, fares, journey time an experience is more or less the same as TurboJet.

During a recent sailing, we noticed that the seats are starting to appear (and feel) quite worn after years of daily journeys back and forth. Regardless, the trip was fine and just over 1 hour we had arrived as expected.

A quick side note for the Taipa Ferry Terminal finally opened in the summer of 2017. This is a huge improvement compared to the small temporary terminal passengers had to arrive and depart from when sailing with Cotai Water Jet over the years. The ferry terminal is modern, huge and there are many more immigration desks than in the past. It is very well connected to the Cotai Strip properties and beyond as well. This allows passengers to limit time spent at the ferry terminal and get to where they want to go in Macau much faster now.

We took the Cotai Water Jet from Macau to Hong Kong. The check in terminal was spacious and clean compared to the ferry terminal in Hong Kong (Shun Tak Centre). Check in and immigration went through very effortlessly and we managed to get on a ferry 2 hours ahead of our scheduled departure. The seats and feel of the boat felt newer than the other ferry provider even though we had Superclass seats on the latter.
It is only a short trip of around an hour so it is not a big deal which ferry provider you go with but if I had to choose, and having taken both on this macau trip, I would recommend Cotai Water Jet.

Thank Philippe V

We had tickets for the House of Dancing Water and left it far too late to book our ferry tickets to an from Macau. The show being on Good Friday and us being a party of 8 things did not look too good until we found that they have a VIP cabin for 8 exactly. Not very cheap, but ideal for a family with young children. On the way over to Macau we could not use the lounge because everyone and their brother was there, but coming back we actually managed to catch a slightly earlier ferry and had the lounge all to ourselves. Being in the VIP cabin you also get off first which helps a bit with immigration and taxis etc.
Macau has made entry very easy with no forms to be completed and they even have a queue for seniors, which was very welcome! The staff on the ferry were very friendly.

Great way to get to Macau without having to go through Hong Kong The ferry leaves from inside the transfer lounge so no need to clear customs or immigration. They will even on-forward your checked baggage so it is waiting for you at the other end.
