“Great Location”

This is always my hotel of choice to stay whenever i visit hong kong. Located just a hop away from prince edward station, and in the middle of many fantastic food eateries, its one hotel that has alot to offer in terms of convenience.

I stayed at this hotel from 5 - 9 March this year. Reason why i choosed this hotel is because of the reasonable rates, location and distance to train station.

The good thing for this hotel is the location. Everybody mentioned it and indeed, it is very close to the train station. There are some restaurant just around the corner of the hotel hence you could get food easily at night. But i guess it is quite common in Hong Kong as food is everywhere even after midnight. One good thing i like about this hotel is that the airport bus A21 (if i remmeber correctly) stop at the entrance of the hotel. Also, there's a bus direct from Disney stop at the same spot too. You could catch a bus to the airport for appx 5 - 10 mins walk hence if could save your cost for airport transfer.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. For the first night the water heater was not hot and it get solved immediately. The staff are very friendly and they brought you a welcome fruits once you checked in the hotel. All staff greeted us when they see us. The last day after we checked out, i left my mobile in the room and the staff immediately notify me about this.

The only thing i do not like about the hotel is the bed. The bed is quite hard and luckily for me, i used to hard bed. However, this is not to my family members. The furniture looks tired but I am fine as long as the room is clean.

Overall, i am satisfied with the hotel and i will consider staying this hotel if i visit hong kong again.

Room Tip: No lift access to 13 floor hence you need to climb the stair case from 12 floor. Take note if you ar...

Stayed here from 10 to 13 Mar. Room is clean although small but otherwise quite decent. Buffet breakfast was okay. Staff helpful and polite. Good location as it is walking distance from Prince Edward MTR and some street markets.

It's convenient, near to MTR station. Room is slightly dated but not terribly cramped as with most HK hotels. It's reasonable in pricing considering the convenient location. Not easy to find a place to view football matches. There is a Coco Bar 1 minute away which showed live matches.

Booked a double room but were given twin single "concrete" beds. They were so hard even for asian standards. Location wasn't bad. Service was ok and the biffet breakfast wasn't bad either. Would prefer to stay in Kowloon next time.

Quite a good location for the price, very close to the train station giving you cheap transport throughout Hong Kong. The staff were friendly and we had no real communication difficulties as we can not speak chinese. The staff were also able to offer us different suggestions and assist with transport. Rooms were clean. No wifi in public areas as was advertised and only a LAN connection in room but we had a laptop so that was fine. The only real down side to the room was the small and very hard bed. I am only about 5ft and even my feet were hanging well off the end of the double bed. But if you can put up with a hard bed for a few nights i would recommend this hotel, especially for the price.

One of the problems for hotel seekers in Hong Kong is that the really nice hotels are super expensive, while those that are cheap are really not much better than hostels. The mid-priced hotels will usually not satisfy either you wallet nor your expectations. The Metro Park Hotel in Mongkok is a great example. It is blessed with a fabulous location in Kowloon, steps away from the Prince Edward MTR subway station, and within close walking distance to the main thoroughfare through Kowloon - Nathan Road - for the shoppers, as well as Sai Yeung Choi Street where there is an abundance of great (and cheap) places to eat. It is also within walking distance to Fa Yuen Markets, Ladies Market, and a few subway stops to the Temple Street Market or Tsim Sha Tsui.

On the hotel itself, it looks much better on the outrside than on the inside. The rooms are old and tired, with worn-out ffurniture and carpeting. I was there in mid-December 2011 for a week, and at times the temperature inside the room was colder than the temperature outside. We use dthe extra blankets (after removing a few hairs left on them by other guests).

The walls are thin, and you can hear everything that happens in your neighbours room, albeit muffled. There was construction going on next door to the hotel, with construction workers dismantling a building with jackhammers, pretty much between 9am and 5.30pm (during the entire 6 days we were there, including a Saturday).

The front desk staff were quite helpful, and could speak English. The cleaning staff were also very good. The vast majority of guests are Chinese, and one reason is that it is a pick-up spot for large tour buses.

At US$150/night, it was not cheap for a 3-star (being generous here) standard hotel, but if you can overlook these issues, then the location itself makes it worthy of consideration.
