Reviewed 1 January 2013

In my recent experience, the only good thing about this hotel is its convenient location to public transport and shopping. I can name a few incompetencies of the staff:

1. Reception/Registration : We booked the room online directly with the Kimberley Hotel (a suite with new furniture/deco and carpet) for 4 nights and a late check-out. Luckily we had a printed confirmation about the late check-out as the hotel has no records of it. The suite (was nice but has a used bandaid on the clean bed) was on the floor (Level 21 -top floor) that has no lift access (stairs only access from Level 20). We asked to move to Level 20 (it was a mistake!!) as this room was smaller & not as nice and had a broken sofa bed.

2. Hotel Key : The hotel key didn't work. My husband went down to reception and they gave us a new one. It still didn't work. So he went down again and again. Now he came back with a man (not sure of his position). The man said someone was inside the room and double-locked it. I told him there were only three of us and we were all outside of the room. The man called security. A security woman turned up, and managed to unlock the door and there was nobody inside the room, the only extra thing was the cleaners cleaning cloth!! The man had no idea that you can't double lock the door from the outside!!

3. Floor cleaner: On the last day of our stay at about 10:30am, the cleaner opened the door (without knocking) and I told her, in Cantonese (the language that she and I communicated previously), not to bother as we had a late check-out at 4pm. An hour or two later, she opened the door again (without knocking), she now asked if she could take the rubbish. I let her and she also put down the new bed sheets (not sure the purpose of that). I was unhappy that she didn't remember I asked her not to bother about cleaning, so I turned on the "Do not disturb" sign. Then at 3:45pm when we were about to leave the room, there she was again at our door wanting to clean our room. I was talking on the mobile phone and was really angry of her coming in time and time again. I was extremely unhappy that the cleaner didn't knock on the door before entering the room and didn't listen to instructions.

We travelled with 2 adults and 2 young kids (2 & 5 yr olds) stayed for 3D2N there.
Overall experience is just so-so and nothing to be ‘wow’ about.

Pro:
1. The location of this hotel is very good. It located at Tsim Sha Tsui just a few minutes’ walk to Nathan Road and about 8-10 mins walks to MTR. The hotel is surrounding by shopping mall and there are plenty of good foods restaurants there. You can easily access to the 7/11 shop opp the hotel to get the necessaries or snack.
2. The room is clean but aged and small.
3. Staff is very friendly and attended to us very quickly

Con:
1. The room is really small. We requested an additional bed but actual fact it was only a sofa bed in our room. They just provided another layer with a super thin ‘mattress’. Really uncomfortable and it made the room even smaller to walk around. Basically my kids just played and stayed on the bed itself as they can’t move much in the room.
2. There is no free WIFI in the room, only at the lobby, you still can get the access but need to be paid for it.
3. The bathroom’s shower is not moveable. It is a troublesome for us to bath the kids

For the price we paid, we think it should be able to get another slight better hotel then this.

Room Tip: request for high floor and non-smoking room

This hotel is your average mid-range accommodation in Hong Kong. Room was small, but was adequate. Fresh towels and sheets were provided everyday as well as a complimentary dish when you dine at their restaurant downstairs. The good thing about this hotel is that it is affordable, and is close to shopping, food, and transportation (there is a complimentary airport express shuttle to Kowloon stn across the street). Staff was friendly and could communicate in English quite well. Overall, an ok hotel to stay at. One thing i did not like was that the room had an odd smell to it. Also, even though we were placed in non-smoking floor, you could smell cigarette smoke coming from the adjacent rooms.

I must admit that we were expecting more for the money paid. We had a small room with a smaller, harder bed than we are used to. Very much on the plus side however there was little noise from outside the Hotel; a big improvement on our last visit to Hong Kong. There were fellow guests crashing about in the early hours and shouting in the corridors but once we had got used to the bed we slept very well. The room was clean and once the queues at reception were cleared staff were found to be as they should be. The location was good. Even for an elderly couple the walk to the waterfront and even the ferry was manageable. Buffet breakfast was extra and satisfactory

a clean hotel ...suitable for muslim as they have small kitchen in case you want to cook your own meal ....as halal food is not easy to find ....

room is small..so dont bother to order an extra bed as they will give u a sofa bed instead and it will really give u a very minimal space to walk to the bedroom..( they partition the room into small kitchen plus living room ...and a small bedroom)...the sofa bed is not really nice to sleep on it...
laundry and dry cleaning is cheap too.... very efficient service from the laundry department...the bellboy is very attentive and immediately call our tour guide when he sees us waiting for such a long time for the disneyland coach to arrive..we stayed on the 20th floor ...for family with young kids ...please dont stay in the 21st floor as its not accesible by lift...

overall its a good experience...very nearby to shopping malls...10 min walks to the mosque and MTR

Room Tip: since the buildings and hotel rooms are so close to one another....if you want some privacy ...draw...

I've been to Hong Kong many times and usually stayed at hotels on Kowloon side. It was our first stay with Kimberley Hotel. I was worried about the services and condition of the hotel after reading all the reviews; however booked it anyway due to its location in Tsimshatsui. During our 3 nights stay there, we found the staff were all friendly and helpful - they waived the $30 service charge when we needed them to fax something for us. We stayed on the 17th floor and the room was clean and decent. Many said the rooms were dated but we did not feel it at all. There are always some floors that the hotels (in Hong Kong) assigned to the tour groups and may be the rooms on those floors were not updated. The only thing we would say to improve is the spot for the TV. It was at the corner that we could not watch TV comfortably when we were in bed. They should just hang the TV on the wall facing the beds.
