Gateway to Macau, usually go to Macau early in the morning and come back Hong Kong before five o'clock in the afternoon to avoid tourists crowds.

Ferry goes from Central Piers and takes around an hour. Costs 540 RMB (around £50GBP) for 3 passengers in 1st class on upper deck which is really comfortable with 3 central airline style central seats and comfortable seats holding around 3 people each on the sides with tables which is where we sat. Very comfortable and with a free bottle of water/coke and tiny seafood snack packet. Immigration at Shenzhen quick, efficient and easy too. Beware rogue taxi's in Shenzhen. Follow the signs into car park and queue for a genuine cab which are really cheap. If not you will get ripped off!

The Macau Ferry Terminal is a busy place. However, it is a well organised terminal and it operates smoothly.

The terminal has many shops and cafes.

To get to the terminal you should take the metro system and get off at Sheung Wan station.

You should always leave yourself enough time to board the ferry because there are various check points and each can take a bit of time. I would suggest at least 35 to 45 minutes.
If you have a foreign passport, you will need to fill in a departure card when leaving Hong Kong. It is just like as if you are departing from an airport.
