Amazing views and beautiful buildings in amongst the greenery. We hiked up from Tung Chung station which was quite an undertaking (9km mostly uphill involving lots and lots of steps). The hike took us 4 hours but was very rewarding as we came over the top and started to see the Big Buddha poking out of the verdant trees. The Buddha was well worth a visit and the monastery was picturesque, serene and tranquil with colourful traditional buildings and the scent of incense wafting around. Note that it shuts at 6pm and the queues to get the bus or cable car back down are considerable (maybe 1 hour plus on a weekend).
