Hotel That Sets A Great First Impression of Hong Kong

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 4, 2013
The Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong is a hotel that sets a great first impression and offers close by accommodation to the Hong Kong River and Ferry Piers. The hotel instantly knew who we were and we had a very fast check-in and then moved off to our room. The lobby is very nice with a large staircase leading up the next level. The lobby also has a petite shop that sells various Four Seasons merchandise. The staff were very magnanimous in helping us choosing the best restaurants in the hotel and making our stay even more worthy.

The rooms were generally very nice and luxurious and have various special amenities. I found the hotel not to be up to the standards of the Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong due to the age of the hotel. I found the carpets in the rooms to be a bit odd and not very matching to the room’s style in some cases but that is just my personal opinion. The rooms do offer a gorgeous view over the Hong Kong River as well as surrounding buildings and below pier. The location is perfect for all things in Hong Kong as the hotel is placed on the better side of the river where all attraction and malls are located. The international Financial Centre Mall is a hundred odd metres from the hotel which is very convenient as it has a lot to offer.

The twenty-four metre or so outdoor infinity pool in the hotel is located quite a way up the hotel. This height means the views are exceptional from all perspectives in the pool terrace area. The staff are outstanding as they are so polite and friendly. There is a huge amount of lounging chairs to relax on and food/drinks are available in the pool area. I highly recommend going swimming at night time as it offers even better views of the lights on Hong Kong on surrounding buildings and attractions.

The hotel offers an extraordinarily good variety of restaurants and bars especially the Blue Bar and the Caprice restaurant. They both offer a wide variety of food and drinks respectively. The Four Seasons Hong Kong is a classic modern hotel that offers a wide variety of amenities, marvellous restaurants and excellent pool. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great experience and close-by attractions.

My wife and I spent four nights at the four seasons on Hong Kong Island.

We upgraded to the executive package which I would recommend as you not only have free drinks between 11am and 1pm during your stay, afternoon tea and evening snacks are served on the 45th floor (the top floor) which has a superb view of Kowloon form Hong Kong Island.

In addition you are met and greeted before customs and immigration by a fours seasons representative and the whisked off in a four seasons luxury Mercedes (both to and from the hotel). This was a boon as it hurried our way through the airport wonderfully.

Another must is the free pressing service, six garments a day back within an hour, which was helped iron out the creases in our clothes which we had packed hurriedly before travelling.

The staff and the executive club were very well trained courteous and friendly especially Katy.

The views across Hong Kong harbor are second to none (as long as you pay a little extra for a harbour view, its worth it)

The pool area has stunning views across the harbor and a heated pool, Jacuzzi as well as a lap pool.

It provides easy access to central Hong Kong Island.

It would be difficult to find a better hotel in Hong Kong.

Room tip: You pay more for a Harbour room but its worth it.

Concierge desk was extremely helpful, a beautiful hotel in a very convenient location for both the Metro and the Airport Express train. The breakfast buffet is sure to have something for everyone, a huge selection. The service is unbeatable.

From the time we walked through the door into the large atrium we found courtesy, efficiency and friendly interested service. We checked in on the 45th floor as we had opted to join the executive club, the benefits offered are well worth the cost. See their website. The view, service and choices of food all excellent and you can even walk along the terrace outside offering an enormous panorama. We were also given free upgrade overlooking the river across to Kowloon. Just great watching the river traffic through huge panoramic window from ones bed. Relaxing Watching TV in bath at end of day is pure luxury. Best of all is the 3 star Michelin restaurant. Advice is to make reservation before arrival. However we didn't but despite wait list we were accommodated by very helpful staff. We ate there on two nights it was truly superb. Waiting staff probably the best ever encountered and an extensive wine list. The spa experience however was marred by a noisy relaxation room. The roar of water from adjoining room is definitely a design fault. they need to move relaxation room to another area. Anyway apart from that can't praise this hotel high enough. Will definitely be going back.

Room tip: Choose room overlooking harbour. You can even download app and watch light show opposite

Breakfast in the Blue Bar is a must. We also loved the pool deck bar and cafe. The staff is exceptional personal and attentive and the service we received during our conference was amazing. The staff remembered our preferences for coffee and juices everyday. You can't ask for a better location. Get a room that overlooks the harbor. You can see all the activity in silence. Heavenly!
