Don't miss this experience! You can have a different view of the city (mainly of the Soho area), you can stop at cafe and restaurants or even do some shopping. It's something unique.

It is a part of Hong Kong’s Public Transport ingenuity when dealing with hilly contoured land like Hong Kong Island. Options of using road network traversing the level difference of 135 meters between Central and Soho & Midlevel on Hong Kong Island by build zigzag roads, or direct straight very step road to connect 800 m long distance definitely are not good, smart, logical and effective cost solutions to deal with this need. So this longest escalator for pedestrian was built as a part of the whole efficient public transportation system including MTRs and buses. With 800 m total length this escalator system is the world record of the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. There is two different patterns 06 -10am the escalator run downhill and then at 10am sharp the travelling direction is reversed run uphill. Therefore, it is a tourist attraction for the first time use because its uniqueness, only in Hong Kong, but once you travelling, then the next one it is just a part of public transportation system when you want to move from A to B.

If you have watched Hong Kong files such as Chungking Express, you've witnessed the exotic scenes this escalator make. Escalator is everywhere in the world but this one is very unique. It's in the center so you'd pass by here at some point anyway.

I would not say that this is a tourist destination but rather a side show when visiting HK Island and the Soho district. Do remember that this is part of the public transportation system which improves the flow of people in this area essentially uphill. Pay attention and stay to the right when not moving allowing people to go about their business.
