The owner of this place is Allain Cornil Belgian expat which played football at my same club Dutch FC Knudde Jakarta from 1996 until 2008. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and very friendly service. I started with a Ceasar Salad which was a good portion but less variety like other Caesar salads in resto's owned by expats. I paid 30.000 rp more for chicken but the chicken I got was almost invisible. Thrifty small pieces. Then came the beef lasagne which was awesome. Good taste and flavors something to repeat. Then the dessert a mille feuille chocolat. Very sophisticated prepared and made. Good cooling down after the main course. Only minus point was the appetizer the salad which was overprized for what I got. Could improve this. But I will be back!
The Koi is next door to the Mahakam and a favourite for hotel guests and the expat community. It has been owned and run by a Belgian family for many years and the standard has never faltered. The food is a mix of Indonesin classics and European. Very pleasant in all respects.
I dined at Koi Mahakam 3 times during my stay. Each meal was very enjoyable and well prepared. Service was also excellent. There was a very good range of dining options available.
Came here after an event nearby for late lunch. Service was efficient and the menu, though it's a huge menu in my opinion, pasta is always a safe choice. I opted for the Penne Carbonara KOI and was happy with my choice. The portion is generous, pasta al dente and the smoked beef, could never finish all on the plate. I think it's good for sharing too! Friends had pizza and fish&chips. All good.
What made my first visit special was the unfortunate event, i forgot my creditcard after paying. Realized it after almost an hour driving to outskirt. Was panicked but after i called the restaurant, it was handled professionally and somehow calmed me down. I drove back almost three hours later and put my faith in them.
Arrived there, and basically almost everyone on the front line knew about the forgotten credit card. One lady (hate that i miss her name) even told me that they tried to chase me down but i already left. Thank you so much KOO staffs. You made all the difference! Will come back!
