This was the cheapest hotel I could find in the Bendungan Hilir/Semanggi/Sudirman/Slipi Petamburan area, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing-- and I certainly didn't get it. But, the hotel is generally clean and cared for, and the rooms are comfortable enough. If you go expecting a basic hotel, but one that may not conform to a western hotel ideal, you will find it's good value. The patio on the second floor is also fairly pleasant, though the perpetual traffic in front of the hotel is visible through the trees.
However, I must add that the service is not very good at all. The staff are mainly young men and women who have clearly never taken any workshops (let alone a diploma) in customer service or hospitality, and the management seems to be fine with leaving them to their own devices. Asking for breakfast within the designated hours (included in the price), I was often met with either a blank stare or thinly veiled petulance at being asked to do something. Lest you think there was a language barrier, I spoke in Indonesian!
The worst came after I had a tea on the patio one night. The next morning, a staff member explained that the menu was wrong, and I had to pay an additional Rp. 10 000! I patiently explained (again in Indonesian) that I paid my bill last night in accordance with what the menu stated, and I would not be paying anything more. That was the last I heard of it, though I later noticed that the menu still hadn't been changed...
Anyway, to sum up: it's OK value, but the management should attend to the service issue if they don't want to get squeezed out of the market.
