Fantastic stay in Mike and Welma's gorgeous house. All you may dream about for idle and comfortable holiday in an exotic environment overlooking a white sand private beach which is a real gem. We highly appreciated the precious help of the sweet house staff. Warmly recommended

“A gem in the Philippines crown”
Reviewed February 24, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Crazy or not, we took 12 family members with us on our honeymoon with the first stop at Mike and Wilmas in Puerto Galera. Most family had not visted The Philippines before, and the introduction via Manila was a bit confronting. Until we arrived at Mike and Wilmas place. It was everything Trip Advisor said, and more. The property is presented in an impeccable manner, and the grounds and facilities are stunning. We added 2 people to our original advice of 12, and a couple of extra matresses on the floor and we were accommodated. The standard of the house itself is first class, and the views over the trees and into the bay is breathtaking. The facilities and service offered really tempted us to stay in the house and venture no further than the private beach, it was that good! Those who wanted to taste the buzz of Puerto or Sabang only had to order a sidecar or Jeepnee and they were there in 5-10 minutes. The staff of the property went about their business quietly and efficiently and made sure we were fed and watered (even the fridges were full of cold drinks when we arrived) and every need catered for. Mike, Wilma and staff, you definately go beyond all expectations and we all thank you for such a memorable stay. WE WILL BE BACK!!

“Perfect for a destination wedding”
Reviewed January 9, 2015 for a stay in January 2014

The private beach was the perfect setting for a sunset wedding. The staff and owners were very attentive and met our every need. The villas were beautifully decorated, the food was exceptional - we could not have had a better experience. We had 20+ family members and friends.

Thank you so much.

“A Special, Safe and Secluded Quiet Spot Ideal for Families”

If you are keen divers with a family and are looking for somewhere to dive and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of life, then look no further! We booked and stayed for two weeks in the two bedroom villa run by Mike and Wilma Barker and wished we could have stayed longer. In fact my 12-year old daughter cried on the way back, so torn was she by leaving this coveted cosy corner of paradise.

Mike's place is in a peaceful secluded private beach in a bay just 10 minutes by tricycle from the city of Puerto Galera. Here, all you'll hear are the birds, the "tukoo' of the giant geckos and the waves lapping the private beach, tended lovingly by Mak-Mak. Mike's villas are far away from the noise and sleaziness of Sabang which was exactly what we had wanted. The two-bedroom villa sits on three levels: top for the kids with a bedroom, living area and fully equipped bathroom, the middle is another bedroom with bathroom and a spacious outdoor balcony, and the lowest level is the kitchen with an outdoor patio. The rooms are equipped with cable TV and DVD player and the kitchen is well arranged. To my wonderment, there is also WiFi included and it was actually very reliable. The icing on the cake is that Helen, Teresa or May (the ladies assigned to look after the guests at the villas) will cook up a great meal for you and you won't even have to go to the market (although I do recommend visiting it). Helen took care of our every need and wowed us with her adobos, maya maya fish, grilled whole tuna and chicken lollipops. If I could, I would have brought her back with us to Hong Kong. Oh, and ask her to make 'turrons' for dessert - scrumptious! She always has great ideas as to what to cook so that your day is hassle-free.

Helen was very helpful and our stay was all the more delightful because of her.
Mike and Wilma are very friendly and their dedication to make their guests feel at home is evident in the way the villas are furnished and the way the property is managed. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the bathrooms are top-notch. I had the opportunity of visiting the 5-bedroom villa and it's ideal for a large group or a family reunion, which is now on the cards for us. Like its smaller counterpart, this villa is enormous and well decorated.

The beach is always clean and equipment available for snorkelling and kayaking. Paul and Lorraine Nielson run a dive centre next door to the villas and though he specialises in tech diving, Paul was very accommodating and arranged for our teenage kids to do their PADI Open Water with Divemaster Paul and refresher courses for us older folk who hadn't dived in 15 years. My only regret was not to have dived more.

The mode of transport is the tricycle and we had tremendous fun, the four of us, going to different places on this quaint modified bike. It's certainly a thrill ride, especially going downhill and we made a pretty picture - me and hubby in the sidecar with the two teenagers behind our driver on the saddle - not for the faint-hearted but certainly for those looking for a bit of a thrill, We immediately made friends with Roderick and got his number so he chauffeured us from place to place.

Watch out for the firefly spectacle at night and leave a little something for the tame dogs: Jeff, Fred and one very shy Charlotte (aka Brenda).

Mike will also arrange transfers to and from Manila Airport (private van to Batangas and then private boat to Puerto Galera). The only stickler was the journey back where we had to wait for over an hour for the van to pick us up at the ferry pier and the price had suddenly gone up, hmmmmm. As a result of that and the traffic, we managed to just get to the airport on time.
