Sunset at Aninuan Beach Resort
Ranked #9 of 54 Hotels in Puerto Galera
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 11 January 2013

This hotel is not shiny, here are not marble floors or luxurious furniture. What is important is that this hotel is very nice, perfectly tidy, ideal for relaxing and also has an exclusive cuisine. All the food that we had was excellent. Also important is the fact that the staff is very helpful and will arrange everything to your satisfaction. Mindoro Island is not as popular for tourists like Cebu or Boracay, but from my own experience I have to say that it is wonderful place. Beautiful scenery, azure sea, and friendly people. And on the beaches is only a few tourists. Hotel also has a diving center, which I highly recommend it. Around the hotel you can snorkel but better is a trip to Coral Gardens - snorkeling paradise. Other excursions offered by the hotel are also super. Near the hotel is great Ponderosa golf course, located in the hills. Of Ponderosa it is not only luxurious view of the bay of Puerto Galera but this is perfect place to play golf in tropical nature. I'm sure that the holiday in this hotel will be unforgettable for you. As well as for us.

This was our third time to stay at Sunset. It will not be our last. My wife and I have never felt more at home in a resort. The fine quality of rooms and food were up to their usual standards. It is the people at Sunset that make the real difference. Every guest is treated as family by every member of the staff. We only stayed 3 days this time which was not enough, though last time 7 days did not seem like enough.

The scuba shop this time was not crowded (last time I had my two children taking open water and advanced) so the instructor and I was able to make four excellent dives together.

I am never more relaxed or more on vacation than when at Sunset.

Room Tip: Every room has a good view but the old wing is a bit rustic. You might need to book a few months i...

I just got back after spending 3 nights in Aninuan. The resort truly lived up to its website photos and has a lovely set up with plenty of nice rattan hammocks, swing chairs, deck and uniquely designed couple seats for you to spend the day in the sun. There were 6 of us, all divers and 4 of us booked the honeymoon suite and a standard room but the resort very kindly upgraded us to the presidential suite! Its not luxurious but the interior and set up is interesting and lovely if all you're after is a nice relaxing beach holiday. Rooms are clean, the bathroom is really large and very spacious and the presidential suite even comes equipped with a jacuzzi, 2 a/cs and enough bedding to sleep up to 6 persons!

The restaurant set up is just by the beach and has a nice quiet ambience but the food is only mediocre. Good variety of western (including good wines!!) and local but not exactly outstanding in taste.

Resort location AWAY from whitesands is lovely as you are away from the party goers and noisy crowds yet onlya 5 min ride away costing PHP100 one way by "trisikad" a bike drawn rickshaw which fetches 3 persons. Or if you prefer a stroll you can walk to Whitesands as well. We ended up having breakfast and lunch at the resort and dinner at whitesands for variety.

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly with great attention to detail. A simple shift of the sun would have staff over to wherever you are seated immediately, setting up an umbrella and readjusting it during the day to ensure you are kept shaded too. Highly commendable and comparable to the service received at the likes of the four seasons!! and in the evenings, the staff turns their attention to mosquitioes hence supplying you with repellant and mosquito coils.

The resort also offers free kayaks and has a house reef where you can do night dives but is situated slightly further from the more popular sites along Sabang and the popular Verde Islands.

We also did 2 days and a total of 6 dives with the dive shop. Overall a most pleasant and enjoyable, relaxing holiday. Recomended for families with children or groups of friends/divers who prefer to stay away from the noisy party scene!

Room Tip: There are no elevators so if you have problems with stairs try to ask for a room on the ground floor...

Food was great, friendly and warm service, location is just right. You can take a walk going to white sand beach if you prefer to experience the night life... We took the room at the old wing. It was very relaxing and peaceful at night .. View is overlooking the beach. Will definitely stay here again!

Its an exhausting long trip to get to this resort , even just from Manila but its worth every minute when you arrive.
The arrival at Batangas pier is quite an experience with so much confusion with porters & way too many helpers & scalpers trying to rip money off you, was glad to get away even though the ferry timetable is very unreliable getting to Puerto Galera.
But once you arrive & you look around you wont regret coming, in fact, you wont want to leave. The resort is lovely, stayed in the new section on the 3rd floor, no lift, so be aware of steps but view looking over the sea & beautiful pools spectacular, nice deck with lounge to sit & ponder. Nice rooms, LCD tv ,very roomy, huge bed...comfortable. The bathroom acceptable, nothing special, the hot/cold taps hard to balance. They have a snooker table & reading room, lots of places to sit & dream near or around the pool or bar.
Food selection is great, you can eat any choice all day, either on the sand with tables or in the restuarant, continental breakfast was complemtary but only juice, tea/coffee with toast. WIFI available only in the resturant.
They have a reef off the resort which is really good & worth exploring either diving or snorkling. Nice beach walks up to White sand beach over a few rocks with cheap shops & bars.
I loved this place & will definately be back, felt very rested

To be honest, we didn't sleep here, but when our resort was less than we had hoped for in terms of service (think sitting around for ten to twenty minutes before getting service), Sunset was happy to help us out, and really outshined themselves. First of all, their food is fantastic, their bar is literally on the beach, and their set up is really nicely done. They were very friendly despite the fact that we weren't patrons: if we'd been staying any longer than we were, I would have jumped ship immediately. Because of their overall awesomeness, I took a few fun dives with them: the dive shop has a really great guy running it, and his assistant is fantastic. Seriously, thank you Sunset, you kind of saved the day.

We stayed here for 3 days with my husband and 3 friends and it was such a great experience. The view from the hotel was amazing, you can just chill in the balcony with the nice view of the beach and the pool sooo relaxing, the pool was clean and there`s also a pool and bar. The foods are amazing as well. I love the hammocks by the beach where you can just watch the beach or read.

The staff are really friendly and helpful. We left our camera in the room and already on our way to the main city but they sent it to us the next day. Very nice people!

We will definitely come back! keep it up!
