“Great Staff at Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2011

Hotel is located in Diniwid beach, which is a 100 pesos tricycle ride from the popular White Beach. The hotel gave an exclusive romantic setting, especially because it has a hut right in front of the beach. The hut gives you some privacy. We had a few romantic dinners at that hut and, always had breakfast right in front of the beach in the mornings. Staff was absolutely EXCELLENT! Very friendly and accommodating. Gave us "personal" service. The hotel itself is okay. Since its a budget hotel, dont expect fancy rooms. Rooms are plain, but clean.

Room Tip: For couples, get the premium room.

It was my first time at Boracay and Orinda Beach Resort gave me the rest and escape that I needed. Staffs are all friendly, food is great, and the beach front is perfect. My friends and I had a blast! I will definitely recommend this resort!

Orinda is situated in the quieter side of the beach. alot of europeans and foreign guests are staying in this resort. We booked the sunset room with 2 big queen beds and spacious room that can accomodate an extra bed, it has its own sala, kitchen and comfort room. The room is very clean and is really good for a big group of friends. All the staff were very attentive to its customers needs and are very friendly. We were greeted by welcome drinks upon checking in. Breakfast was served in big portions and was very yummy! 24/7 service was given to hotel guests transpo / food etc. Overall, i can say that this is a great budget beachfront hotel! we got our money's worth! we are sure to come back to boracay and we will still choose to stay at Orinda!

Room Tip: book the sunset room for a group of 4-5people

We got a deluxe room for around P2500 per night. Let's get the cons out of the way first: (1) the resort is not as pretty as its website makes it out to be, (2) the room has no closet, (3) opening the bedroom door can be a little tricky, (4) the food in their restaurant is not that good. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this hotel because: (1) their staff are pleasant, (2) the room rate that we got through Agoda included breakfast and roundtrip airport transfer, (3) the hotel has its own beachfront, part of Diniwid beach, which is far enough from the crowds, but near enough to walk to station 2 in about 30 minutes, (4) the bathroom has hot water, (5) there's a Wifi signal even inside the rooms, and (6) they have a free 5x/day shuttle to and from D'Mall. For me, those are the amenities that count. You can get 5-star accommodations in Boracay, but you will have to pay 5-star prices too. Orinda is good value for money.

Room Tip: Deluxe - 2 beds, ref, ac, hot & cold shower

Very Poor - little more than a run-down youth hostel.

Dirty throughout: two very large cockroaches joined us in our room, which would not be cleaned or the towels changed unless we made a 'special request' and paid extra. The same collage of food stains remained on the breakfast area tablecloths all week. Broken toilet and clogged shower drain in the room.

Whilst dirty and run-down we thought it was at least cheap - until we checked prices at the much nicer neighbouring hotels.

The staff were friendly and did their best though there was nobody on duty at night.

The photos of the rooms in one of the other reviews bare no resemblance to any of the three rooms we viewed.

Good location though (right on a small beach a little way north of all the noisiest beach bars).

Room Tip: Go to the Minitel 100 metres along the beach.

The hotel is rather inexpensive at $70-80 per room (peak season), with very basic amenities. Our room had 2 beds and one tiny table, so we had to put all our staff on the floor. The only hanger hing on a electricity cable going from the room to the tiniest bath, where a small spider was living next to the shower.

We moved out in 2 days. The hotel agreed not to charge us for unused dates (we booked 4 nights, based on rather positive reviews of previous travelers).

The pros are:
- good location (5 min beach walk to north from station 1), so it's quiet;
- staff is friendly.
