Description: OUR STORY There is really nothing more satisfying in this world than a full flavoured Nasi Lemak followed by a simple Cendol. Singapore has moved into a new era where local food had quietly become an amalgamation of factory-made products, and we began to fall out of love with many of our favourite dishes. Nasi Lemak was one of them. A trip to the 2014 Nasi Lemak convention in Kuala Lumpur was like walking through a looking glass into a world that was somehow familiar, but completely forgotten. It was a festival filled with people celebrating their cuisine, and vendors who took pride in the food they served. We were treated to an incredibly diverse and delicious range of dishes, rice flavours and textures - it was life changing. As full as we were, our dessert of Cendol that followed at a roadside stall in Brickfields was probably the best thing we had ever eaten. We returned to Singapore and decided that we had to bring back that same passion for Nasi Lemak & Cendol. After spending 2 years on our recipes and an equal amount of time sourcing the best coconuts in the world, we are finally ready to present to you The Coconut Club.

There will always be arguments about whether a plate of Nasi Lemak should cost as much as $12.80, when much cheaper alternatives are available. But don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.

The restaurant setting is simple but effective. Whether you are dining alone or in a large group, the seating is accommodating.

The menu is streamlined and easy to understand. And thanks to its simplicity, the service is quick and efficient. My Nasi Lemak arrived within minutes of ordering.

The portion size is generous - two large pieces of Fried Chicken. There was more than enough Coconut Rice.....

.... and the Sambal Balachan was sublime. In some restaurants, the chillie paste can be overpowering. But at The Coconut Club it was punchy and tasty.

The Coconut Club is outstanding. A great example of how an eatery can justifiably charge more, if it gives more.

We came to visit a tailor on Club Street (off Chinatown) who recommended the Coconut Club for dinner. We arrived at the quaint little shophouse-like restaurant just before their opening time (6pm) and we were the first to arrive (I think they don’t take reservations), but within a few minutes there were already a number of people waiting for the restaurant to open. They opened promptly at 6pm and everyone was quickly shown a seat. We ordered the Nasi Lemak (coconut rice), Otak-Otak (grilled fish cake with spices) and Chendol (rice jelly with coconut milk and palm sugar). The rice was fragrant and fluffy with well separated grains that did not clump together. The fried Ikan Bilis (anchovies) were nice and crispy and the peanuts were, well, peanuts. But the prize really goes to both the sambal (a hot sauce made from chilli, shallots, lime, ginger, shrimp paste and a number of other ingredients) and the chicken, which was exquisitely tender.
The Otak was nice enough, but the chendol was probably one of the best I have ever had.
Not the cheapest Nasi Lemak around but , for me, it well worth it.

Within your expectation and the chicken exceeded mine..... impeccable food quality with all nasi lemak details are just right on the spot. Service is casual but eats assured all spectrum are taken care of by the team. One of the memorable of having the brand name in the Loo with inverted view of it; that you’ll see Coconut Club when washing your hand. Smart and brilliant thoughts.

The Coconut Club's Nasi Lemak completely hit the spot when we visited them. The price was great, the venue was trendy, and the service was excellent.
