Stayed here by myself for 2 weeks on business. Good things about is being close to the Metro and to Plaza Singapura and malls on Orchard Rd.
Room: This hotel has thin walls, both between the rooms and to the corridor. I had my headboard against the corridor wall in the first room I stayed in and got woken up a couple times by the loud walkie-talkies the staff carries. I could hear my neighbor playing music, even out in the hall. The first room I stayed in had virtually no space between the bed and the desk chair, very cramped, and the chair wasn't all that comfortable. Not very good if you want to work a lot. I changed to a better room which was roomier and the headboard not against the wall.
Wifi was slow and had a lot of blocked content.
Bed was ok, maybe a bit shorter than what I'm used to, pillows a bit hard.
Bathroom: Plumbing noise from bathrooms above on my floor (6th). First room didn't drain well, ended up flooding into the toilet area, not so good if you like long showers. Temperature and pressure in the shower fluctuates quite a bit.
No shaving mirror by the sink (which is out in the room), instead there's a vanity mirror over by the desk area.
Breakfast: small and abysmal, the "american breakfast" had rubbery chicken sausage, chicken ham and runny scrambled eggs with 4 tiny pieces of toast and a grilled tomato. "Oriental breakfast" was better with more toast and kaya, along with 3 dumplings. Seems to be small ants crawling around as well in the restaurant. I ended up getting breakfast at the mall or metro station most days. There's no buffet, just choose "singapore", "american" or "oriental", with them running out of "oriental" some days.
Didn't use the restaurant, room service or minibar as Plaza Singapura is a short walk away with good food alternatives and a huge Carrefour supermarket.
Staff was nice and helpful and accomodated my early (9am) check-in, cleaning was good. 2 free water bottles a day is a nice touch. Some days they would deliver the Straits Times to my room, other days I wouldn't get it.
In short: It's a good place if you're just crashing here after shopping or activites, in since it's close to metro, malls and a taxi stand. For a longer period I had a hard time being able to relax or work due to bad desk, chair and slow WiFi.
