This place has such potential but yet fails in every way to provide its members with decent food and service. This time I ate on the Verandah which is a really special setting overlooking the cricket pitch. Their"famous" Mulligatawny soup was served tepid in a tiny bowl with lumps of rice in it. The Rogan Josh bore no resemblance to Rogan or Josh.It was gloopy sauce with bits of gristle and tiny bits of inedible mutton. Shockingly bad.An ice cream was artifically pink and full of ice crystals. There is no excuse for bad ice cream these days. The waiter gave the impression he could not cope with the amount of tables he had to look after and forgot our drink order. As this is a club I can only assume the Commitee members have no appreciation or understanding of good food and service.I will not begin to comment on the decor. A place and setting that could be a truly great landmark club is sadly best avoided in its current sorry state.

Perfect Friday night with friends enjoying BBQ night on the outdoor deck. Very courteous and attentive staff. Though most of our group enjoyed the steak special, my husband devoured two full plates of satay. Glistening in perfectly sweetened caramelized marinade and expertly charred, every stick of satay (both chicken and mutton) was juicy, tender and perfectly seasoned to the core.

Extremely rude reception answering calls, as well as poor response from staff on reservations. No courtesy to provide any response on problem feedback on the rudeness of the reception during registration, poor staff response on the reservation, as well as the remark made by the reception during registration that they were making the process of registration difficult for these overseas members at the SCC, in response to their claim that the reciprocal club overseas was doing the same to their members?

It was a horrendous experience, and will be the last ever.

The SCC is a members only location but I am lucky enough to know a resident who is a member so happy days! Excellent bar with old school service. Outside terraces are a great place to chill out. Sports facilities are top notch and the restaurant is top class

Spent Friday night on the outdoor deck and Sunday afternoon at the Champagne brunch. The CC is for members only and if not a member you must be signed in. It is a cashless venue and everything is put on a tab and then paid for by the member at the end.

The venue is spectacular. The clubhouse/pavilion overlooks the tennis courts and cricket pitch. Very much old world. The building itself is a memory of a bygone era when Britain ruled the world and Singapore was the jewel in the Crown in Asia.

We have been to a number of brunches and this was nothing short of superb. Mumm champagne, fresh seafood, delightfully cooked beef and bread and butter custard. Hard to find anything better! The dining room is not enormous so do you do not feel overwhelmed whilst dining.

The staff are courteous, efficient and immaculately presented.

The CC was established in 1852. There is a range of sporting activities including cricket, tennis, hockey, rugby, squash and billiards. The sports bar contains numerous items of cricket's rich history including a signed bat from the Australia v England Centennial test. The photos are also very interesting.

Drinks are very reasonably priced and the cocktails even more so!

The Grand Prix roars past the CC on the deck side. If you could get someone to buy you a 3 day pass to watch the Grand Prix, it would tick that box in most sporting aficionados bucket list.

As to be expected there are dress rules.

Well worth a look if possible.
