On route to the Ashes and stopping off in Singapore it seemed only right to visit the Singapore Cricket Club. Open to members only, whilst taking a pic of the entrance a lovely gentleman member who I later found to be named Raj, kindly invited us in to have a look round. With a strict dress code of no shorts in the members lounge we were invited through by our new friend. This was greeted by silence and a few surprised expressions as we walked through wearing our shorts. Raj assured us as we were with him this wouldn’t be a problem. We were then treated to a full tour of all of the club. Amazing! Then at the end, this kind gentleman bought us a cold beer which we thoroughly enjoyed as it was so hot. The club is a reminder of the bygone British Empire and is well worth a visit.

Great place to meet, have good drinks and excellent food to savor.
A must place to visit while in Singapore but you will have to get invited by a member.
My sister and her husband are members so got the opportunity to visit this wonderful place again.
The chili crab and Assam fish is worth the money.

This is an oasis of old world charm in the buzzing modern metropolis of Singapore. Of course you will need to be invited by a member. If you do get that privilege jump at the chance. As ever with these types of clubs don’t expect top notch haute cuisine or the latest fashionable cocktail. What however you can expect is a warm welcome, and great conversation in a comfortable setting.

We have been visiting this club for over forty years and this year has to be our last - there is a good time to 'retire' from overseas travel and sadly we reached it this year with a great trip to Singapore and a cruise on our favourite ship, which happily is coming to Australia next year. Many thanks to Mollie and great to see and chat with her again, and to Janice, who helped so much with a phonecall to Penang on my phone which I couldn't navigate!!!!
Lots more memories of a very special club. Many thanks Maire and Lloyd
