There are two 'german' hostels in Pucon which get confused by the online accommodation sites, e.g. Booking.com. The 'hostel de German' is closer to the centre - we stayed at 'donde German hostal' but did drive to both trying to find the right one.
The whole hostal is fine and comfortable, but a little tired. The door of our room didn't shut easily and it got very warm in the sun but the rooms were spacious, and we could see the whole of Volcan Villarica from our bed. The garden area is very pleasant and provides good shade, plus there is a good supermarket less than five minutes walk away. It's probably a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town but that means it is quiet at night time.
The common areas are also spacious and well equipped, if a bit dated. The kitchen is large (but needs a knife sharpener!) with several smaller dining tables. The communal sitting area is comfy with several sofas, a TV and a decent collection of books that are inexplicably locked away in a glass fronted cabinet. There is no off street parking but on street parking is plentiful and free.
We paid $126,000 (Chilean) for three nights (private bathroom) and it was excellent value for money. The owner is friendly but only speaks Spanish. More
