This hotel was always considered the most exclusive in the area. It is beautiful in its own way. It is like being in the fifties. Everything. The building, the furniture, the floors, the walls. Very well maintained. Don't expect modernity here. It is a place that preserves old times in a polished way. The dining room, the guest rooms, everything, have breathtaking views of the lake and the woods and gardens that surround the hotel. The hotel is located in a secluded peninsula near town. In the night we could hear the silence. We had a delicious dinner while watching the sunset over the Villarrica lake. Part of the history is that when Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip came to this area they stayed in the Antumalal, and pictures on the walls testify that. There is a very nice spa in the grounds of the hotel.

Charming hotel with excellent staff, beautiful grounds, great food, easy access to area nature activities and amazing views. This place is a terrific place to just relax and enjoy those you are wish or reconnect with yourself. While a bit dated, it adds to the charm and the fresh air can really rejuvenate the spirit. Definitely recommended!

When we arrived we were told, with great glee that we had been upgraded to the 'Royal Suite' as the Queen and Prince Philip stayed in that set of rooms during their visit to Chile in 1968.
Up a very uneven path with a low wall and steep drop the far side we came to its entrance up a dozen steps. There were three bedrooms and three tiny bathrooms there was also a large sitting room with an indoor garden and a terrace. It looked as if the suite had been caught in a time warp; the furniture, fittings and décor were all 50s and 60s style. There was a musty smell throughout and one bathroom was so bad that we couldn’t even go in for more than a few seconds. There was also a small kitchen but that too smelt badly. The Suite needed completely gutting. However, the views from the room and the dining room across Lake Villarrica were impressive. Food was good and the staff were courteous and helpful.

Perhaps other rooms are better, but on the basis of our experience in the `Royal Suite' this hotel cannot be recommended.

Room tip: Avoid the Royal Suite at all costs

We are so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at our Royal Suite. It has always been a hit with our guests but of course we shall investigate the smells that you mention in your comment. The style and decor is meant to reflect that era and is part of the attraction of the chalet. We shall of course review your comments in depth during our next board meeting.

The hotel land is just amazing. It is wild, green, lush. Lakeshore, flowers, just beautiful. The hotel is comfortable and the views are great. The spa area is si nice that we spent a lot of time there with the kids. However, the main building needs a general re styling. It is well maintained but it just looks too old. For the price you expect a little more. If it weren't for the gardens and common are I would probably rate it with 3 stars. The staff is very helpful. And the restaurant is OK (could be a little better).

The Antumalal has been built in a Bauhaus spirit.
So don't expect luxuous rooms but inspirated rooms. Good size, large windows on garden and lake, chimney( but we don't use it by this temperature...) and correct bathrooms.
Your name is on the room's door and so noway to not find it.
The common parts are on the same concept : practical and open on the exterior...
The swimming pool is more than decent but a system to allow passage from outdoor to indoor could be a must.
We did not really find the " beach"...
Garden is nice and part of salads, herbs, vegetables served at restaurant comes from...
Breakfast is correct-not the best we had in Chili, notably the postres...
To recommand as it allies comfort and historical concept with views. And it is so quiet...except when guests are not able to come back at night silently...but it's not hotel's problem, it's an "etiquete" problem...

Room tip: On garden and view on lake

Many thanks for your comment. It sounds like you spent quite some time exploring our gardens which is great to hear. We are located in a very quiet area far from the crowds in Pucón - for that our guests are always grateful. Enjoy the rest of your trip in Chile and we do hope that one day you may return to Pucón and the Antumalal!
