It's a nice hotel with a strange configuration with indoor rooms, which personally I don't appreciate a lot, but the service is good, the rooms are cool with nice bathrooms.

Unfortunately I got no hot water which is really annoying. Got a $10 discount and no shower :(

My daughter and I stayed in this hotel and could not have been happier! The service was over the top!! In the evening they would turn down our beds & put in a hot water bottle to warm the sheets!! They would also leave a dessert. Breakfast was displayed nicely & they also cooked to order a main dish. The rooms were very clean. The hotel is in close to the main square and we could walk everywhere. We enjoyed tapas & wine in the bar many nights. For the price this was an amazing find!

The Forum was filled with beautiful antiques and furnishings, all nicely maintained and immaculate. Our room was compact and well furnished with a comfortable bed and perfect bathroom. Our room, #7, was in the back part of the hotel and on the second floor, so we had no squeaky floor or noise issues that others have reported. Breakfast was perfect with fresh eggs made to order each day.

Best part of the hotel was the staff, including the charming lady who took our coffee and egg order each morning and Diego, a front desk person who made sure we had everything we needed. Special kudos to Maria, also from the front desk, who gave us daily advice on places to eat and sights to see. She also arranged for an excellent driver, Wilfrido, for us. We enjoyed our outing to El Cajas so much that we asked Wilfrido to take us to Ingapirca the following day. Muchas gracias to Maria!

Our stay at the hotel started off bad and got worse from there.

We had 3 rooms all with different itineraries booked thru Expedia. We canceled 1 of the rooms & the hotel chose to cancel 2 of the reservations. At check in, the front desk attendant was not helpful, rude, & was blaming it on us. We showed her the Expedia confirms to back up or reservations & cancellations. I even logged onto our account and it still showed the correct reservations.

We had guests surprise us at the airport & needed to re-add the 3rd room. We told the receptionist we wanted to pay for all three reservations, not the guests with us. She said we had to come back during check out to take care of it. In between that, she then accepted payment from our guests, the next day, and would not change it.

The main issue is you can hear everything in this hotel. Our room was in the front portion of the hotel, above reception on the 2nd floor. There is no privacy. Expect everyone to hear you use the restroom as they have a vent that opens to the courtyard where everyone checks in, goes to the restaurant, etc. The walls and floors are paper thin too. I would not recommend this for a romantic vacation.

Also, the Wifi only works well in the common areas. It did not work in our room well and had to sit in the hall to get a few things done for work. A side note, when we called, the gentleman that answered was very nice and helpful.

During check out: The same receptionist kept telling us that our credit cards were not being accepted. We tried 4 cards and had put travel notices on all of the cards prior to leaving. She said we would have to pay cash. This was unacceptable. We called the credit card companies & they ALL said that the transactions had not been attempted & everything was fine with our cards. We went back and tried again. Still no & were told to pay cash again. Luckily, we booked thru Expedia & we called them for help. The receptionist told a different story to Expedia but did tell Expedia we had to pay cash. We then explained to Expedia that we called the cards & there is a problem with their system and she does not want to try to fix her system. Expedia called again & asked them to try & reset their system (we had asked & she showed us the cord trying to say it wasn't her system). It then worked & our cards went thru. She was more concerned what Expedia thought than helping us. She even asked us to call Expedia back & let them know it was fine.

We disliked this hotel so much that we ended up leaving Cuenca a day early. To end on a positive note, the location is perfect and the rooms were clean.

Room tip: Ask for something in the back or choose another hotel.

We had a very nice stay in this hotel. We were given a privately located room on the third floor. It was very quiet and we had a nice window to let in light and fresh air. The bathroom had a nice updated shower with hot water and they provided soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. The closet had ample space and a safe. There was also a TV with cable channels. The breakfast was well appointed with eggs made to order, ham, cheese, toast, and fresh juice. They also served tea and coffee at the table. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable stay without breaking the bank.

Room tip: Third floor room was very quiet.
