This place is in a great location, being just a few blocks from the main square. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. We weren’t able to check in straight away in the morning having come in from Nasca on an overnight bus. But staff happily looked after our luggage as we went and got breakfast and a stroll around town. The hotel is very picturesque and their advertising of the courtyard area is as pictured on their business cards and web site. We did however ‘luck out’ on our room (it was 107). This was down stairs on the left side of the courtyard. The damp/mouldy smell was overpowering on first entry into the room and the front door felt as if it would fall off its hinges. The toilet doorknob malfunctioned one night and needed about 30 minutes of mechanical work to free up. Walking bare feet on the carpet was not advisable unless you wanted to combine your walk with a wade. Hey but we’re in Peru and we had no difficulty putting up with this. We returned to our room a few days later (after venturing to the Colca Canyon) to find that they were about to ‘renovate the rooms on the downstairs/left side’... so hopefully the wetness of the rooms will be fixed?! Other colleagues staying in the upstairs rooms had no difficulty as we did, but they did have issues with the hot...More
