“Recoletta Cottage. A warm and pleasant home away from home.”
Reviewed November 13, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

From the getgo, we enjoyed our experience at this Sacred Valley location. Dew, our representative welcomed us at the cottage, explained everything to us. She even made us Coca Tea. The cottage itself was most inviting. The beds and bedding quite comfortable. The fireplace and the little, private backyard were an added bonus. Sergio, the custodian met our needs. All in all a great place to stay.

My husband, sister, and I traveled together, and rented the Recoleta Cottage on the eastern end of Urubamba for one week. It's in a wonderful location to tour the valley easily. The cottage is on a quiet edge of town, and it's easy to walk to restaurants and other services. Security was excellent, and there was room for our rental car. The Valley and Life managers are very helpful, friendly, and accessible. We cooked at least one meal a day in the cottage, and supplies were sufficient. We used the outdoor sink and clothesline to launder our clothes. It was a luxury to have 1.5 bathrooms for the 3 of us. Spacious cottage that seemed like home. (Wifi/internet access was intermittent.) Overall, it was an excellent stay, and a warm welcome to Peru!

“Excellent service”
Reviewed October 18, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We are a family of 6 (kids 11,9,7 & 4), and stayed at the Recoletta cottage in Urubamba in the heart of the Valley and toured with Valley and Life. Initially we booked just accommodation, but I am absolutely thrilled that they suggested touring with them, do it! You will not get a more personalised service, each day we had our own local tour guide meet us at the time we nominated and had tours each day of the Valley with interesting historical info, catering to all our personal needs, plus great food. They even provide a mobile, so if any issues you can speak to Dew who organised everything for us. Love Peru!

“Wonderful Home Base in Sacred Valley”
Reviewed August 16, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Our family of five (three children aged 16, 14 and 11) just spent our five final nights of a long vacation in the Recoletta Cottage in Urubamba. Not only is the house exceptionally outfitted (great cooking utensils, really comfortable beds, sweet garden, helpful groundskeeper), it is also situated just outside the town, which makes it quiet and allows for a short but fun walk (or motor-taxi ride) to the center. Urubamba is perfectly situated for day trips to Sacred Valley destinations such as Ollantaytambo, Písac, Machu Picchu, Moray, Salinera, and is actually a very tranquil and interesting town (don't believe the guide books that say otherwise). We enjoyed buying our groceries in the local market, eating a couple of fancy meals out and even doing end-of-trip logistical errands in town. But the best part of renting this cottage is the caring help of the hosts, who made a lovely impression on us as they eagerly assisted us with our every travel and logistical need and actually befriended us. As our family transitioned home the other day and shared some of the trip highlights with each other, our kids named the social time we spent with the hosts near the top of their list. I can't think of any better recommendation than that!

“Beautiful Stay”

My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing and beautiful stay at the Recoleta cottage in May. We paid the additional fee for breakfast, and each morning a wonderful woman came, made us a delicious breakfast and tidied the cottage. The place has a beautiful and relaxing backyard, with a hammock chair to sit and enjoy the fresh air and views. On our last afternoon I spotted a large humming bird checking out the flowers.
The cottage is in a very convenient location, but far enough away to feel like you are in your own secluded neighborhood. We were able to walk to the town of Urubumba (a beautiful walk) and we were steps from the Monastery hotel, where you can have a nice meal and pick up free wifi. We felt safe the entire time.
We hired a local to drive us up to Moray and the salt mines, and the drive alone was worth our entire trip. The mountains are breathtaking. I don't know how you stay here and not fall in love with Peru.
We took the train from Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) to the station about 15-20 minutes away from the cottage, and arranged for the hotel to pick us up from there. I would recommend this schedule. We watched the sunrise at Machu Picchu, had a breathtaking and exhausting day at the ruins, took the evening train to the valley and woke up in this beautiful place where all we had to do was relax and wander around for a couple of days. We then arranged for a driver (through Valley and Life) to drive us back to Cusco (a gorgeous drive).
Just my husband and I stayed here, but the cottage accommodates a lot more, and with its nice living room and full kitchen it would be a great place for a large group to stay, relax, make your own meals and take a breath from regular hotels.

I wish all my travels were like this one.
Extremely good service by our hosts, comfortable accomodation in Rio Grande Cottage which is a very nice house with beautiful gardens. Clean and cozy.
I had the chance of discovering the Sacred Valley of Urubamba with profesional guides and taste peruvian food in very good restaurants.
I shall recommend this to all my friends traveling to Peru.

“The Perfect Place to Stay in the Sacred Valley!”

We has a wonderful time in the Recolletta Cottage this past January. Our group of 5 stayed in the Cottage for 4 nights, but we wished it was many more! The Cottage is located in a very peaceful area that is quiet and beautiful, but you are also able to walk into town for dinner. The Cottage has everything that you need, including gorgeous views and a nice fireplace to sit by in the evenings. Our hosts were wonderful and they made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. They also coordinated wonderful tours for us around Cusco and the Sacred Valley. I would highly recommend the Recolletta Cottage for anyone looking for a peaceful vacation in the center of the Sacred Valley. I hope to be back sometime soon!
