I'm writing this about a year and a half late, but it still deserves to be written. This isn't a luxury hotel. There's no pool. It's not in the main square. The rooms aren't so quiet. But when my dad had a stroke and acute kidney failure while at this hotel by himself and I was on the Inca Trail, the staff at the Torre Dorada got him the medical attention he needed and literally saved his life. They kept my family in the US completely informed the whole time and gave them advice on what to do, and helped me figure out how to get to Lima to be with him once I returned from Machu Picchu and learned what had happened. I don't think any hotel in the world would have ever gone through such lengths for a complete stranger. So while I pray that this experience never happens to any of you, just know that the people at this hotel will take care of you, and you will be treated like family whether you're half dead or just need help with train tickets.

We enjoyed this hotel more than we can put into words, the best stay we had in all our travels through South America. The staff especially Marco went out their way to help us time after time, from helping us buy airline tickets online, setting up our transportation to and from Machu Picchu to ordering pizza on one of our late night returns. What made it even more amazing is that all of the staff wore multiple hats, from front desk to cook to driver, etc.
The hotel is located away from the main square in a quiet neighborhood, it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle, their free on call driver service made it a breeze to get around. Our room was very nice comfortable and very clean, we made the common area our home away from home.
We were lucky enough to meet Peggy the owner and her niece on their return from Sao Paulo which was added pleasure to our stay.

Anyone looking for Hotel in Cuzco should not look any further !

All the best and we hope to return someday.

If you are in Cusco for sightseeing, and as an embarkation point for Machu PIcchu, this place is perfect. The staff was very helpful, and you can tell they WANT to be helpful. Makes a difference! The went out of their way to help us obtain MP tickets, bus tickets, and to pack us a sack lunch for the road. The place is spotlessly clean, the driver is available anytime you need him. We started a two week trip to South America in Peru; this hotel was a great beginning! I highly recommend Torre Dorado.

Room Tip: No complaints about our room, which was a street side location.

Customer service is by far the best thing here. The staff was extremely helpful and assisted us with our travels to Machu Picchu and beyond. The only issue I had was the beds were pretty rock hard. But the room was nice and we had a great view. The staff definitely made the hotel worth it. The breakfast was one of the best we had in South America as well. Highly recommended,.

Dear Guest:
I would like to thank you so much for your preference and for staying with us during your trip to Cusco. Thank you for your nice comments, it is really gratifying and it will encourage us to do even better, however I was sad to find out about the beds being hard, our mattress are orthopedic because in general people like this type of beds but we wish you would have mentioned this to us when you were here, as we also have the other type of mattress much softer and we are pretty sure that you would have a better sleep in those beds. Well maybe next time, you know that you have a home away from home for your next trip. We also want to send you all our best wishes and we hope all good things will come your way.

My husband and I traveled around S. America for a month for our honeymoon. Though Hotel Torre Dorada was not the fanciest place we stayed, it was by far the best experience on our entire trip. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. They spent (literally) hours with us, helping us to plan our adventures, arranging our trips, purchasing tickets for us, doing our laundry, packing us travel lunches, toting us around by cab, and giving us recommendations. The area is interesting, off the beaten path a bit from all of the action. Being a (typical tourist) American, I was a bit intimidated by the look of the area and the distance from the center. This posed no problems for us however, because the staff arranged transportation for us everywhere. They were quick to pick us up, and ready to drop us off at all times. Though my husband is a native Spanish speaker, the staff all spoke great English, so it was very easy to communicate. My only complaint is the hard bed- I really needed rest, but struggled with the hard bed. Overall though, I highly recommend this place. it is a great value and the best service you will ever receive at a hotel.

The staff (esp Henry) were great here - very laid-back quiet hotel.

A little bit out of the main drag, but not too much of a hassle to get taken around and picked up by the hotel driver.

Made sure we were taken care of and looked after and had some nice reccs of places to eat and things to do.
