...would have never found this place if it had not been for a recommendation...despite it having the "charm" of market, it serves the best parihuela (thick seafood soup) I've eaten in the last years. The portions are very generous, so try to share different dishes if you are in a group.

Down a dusty street well away from the touristy part of Barranco you suddenly come upon 3 bustling restaurants. El Villano is the most discreet and quiet of the three and by far the best. BTW only go there by taxi: it is on the edge of a sketchy area that is not for tourists.

Behind a concrete facade you find a cool, tall, airy space. Minimalist decor make it appealing and quite welcoming. The crowd is very much locals in the know. The chef/owner wastes no time in greeting you and giving advice based in your tastes. The pisco sours are good although that is not what distinguishes Villano - the food.

The menu is largely seafood. We had a ceviche of mariscos (fresh, well prepared, tasty but personally I prefer fish) and a tiradito of seafood with a touch of picante (excellent and a nice twist in the traditional dish) as well as some excellent wantons. We lived on to a tacu tacu with langostinas which was delicate and beautifully seasoned, and an arroz con mariscos which was exquisite. The seafood was cooked to perfection - succulent and moist.

Bill for three including beer, pisco sour and chilcao was S./ 290 including tip. Excellent. Going again

We loved this place! The food was fresh! The place has a marine feel! The decor was Just right! I had fettuccini a la huancaina with lomo. The owner is very involved in day to day operation. I was there for a private party and for dinner another day!
Food was amazing! Great flavor! Best pisco sour!

It was 3 of us, we had Choritos a la Chalaca, Ceviche Mixto, Sea Bass with Garlic Sauce and Seafood Risotto......just perfect!
Javier the owner was there and he came to our table to check on us and give us some suggestions. The staff very friendly and professional. In a city known for its food, El Villano will be around for a long time.
