Walked along the cliffs to a mall that sits out over a cliff in the Miraflores area of Lima. It had a good mix of stores and places for food and a nice view down to the ocean. Too many skateboarders hanging out at the park that serves as the roof of the mall for anyone else to enjoy it.

This is a very nice American-style mall in a beautiful location on a cliff over the ocean. It’s worth a visit in the evening if you are looking for something to do. However, don’t shop here. It’s very expensive compared to other little open-air markets that are all over the place in Peru.

The mall has a variety of American chain restaurants, including Chili’s and T.G.I. Fridays. We tried Friday’s, and we weren’t impressed. It wasn’t as good as back home, and the menu was different. On a different night, we eat at a Peruvian BBQ place in the mall’s food court. It was much cheaper, better, and more fun.

There is a casino across the street, which was not good. It seemed like there was some sort of membership card you needed to buy, and they only took US Dollars. Also, the minimum bets on the slot machines were really high. Later we went to Casino Royale in central Miraflores, and that was much better. You could play in soles (not Dollars), the minimums were cheap, and they served free food to you while you played!

Anyway, you can’t see the Larcomar mall from the street. You need to walk over to the edge of the cliff, and down the stairs into the mall. When the taxi dropped us off, he said “It’s over there. Go down.” I wondered if we were in the right place because I didn’t see anything. I thought he meant “over there and down the street”, but he really meant “down” the cliff. The mall has a couple of look-out areas where you can see the ocean and the beach. It was pretty at sunset.

At the exits from the mall, you’ll find cab drivers standing at the top of the stairs asking if you need a taxi. Don’t do it. Walk over to the street and find a cab with the driver already inside (either waiting or driving by). We checked prices, and the cab at the street charged us half of what the driver standing by the stairs tried to charge us. We found that all over. Taxi drivers charge more when they have parked and they are standing by an attraction exit. Find a taxi with the driver inside.

Very original. Good selection of goods, good quality. You MUST try a ceviche in one of the restaurants. Service is excellent, food is tasty and eating in the open air on the terrace overlooking the ocean - you'll be left breathless...

Larcomar is one of my favourite places to spend some time overlooking the ocean when in Lima. The many restaurents and bars offer a great view from both inside and outsine and are for the most part reasonably priced with a good variety of cuisene. The cooler months from June to maybe the end of September are not as comfortable outside so I prefer the warmer times...of course. The shopping is pricey and most items can be pusched at other locations in Mariflores and throughout Lima at much better prices.

This shopping centre is very modern, and in a lovely clifftop location. It's a great place to get an overpriced meal, or enjoy a coffee overlooking the sea, but unless you left your walking boots at home and urgently need to get new ones, don't bother buying anything here. It's pricey, and aimed at the tourists, walk 5 minutes up the road towards parque kenedy and go to Saga Fabella or Ripley the Peruvian department stores.
