Another fabulous set of Inca ruins on the third day of the Inca trail.
Set high on a hill with a lonely llama herd and a great view of the valley, river and the next camp site.
Good spot for a rest and a snack and to admire the view before heading down the steep steps to the final camp before Mach Picchu.

A heavy and steep hike to get here but well worth it. Have to take a guide and worth it for the detailed info. Good walking shoes a must.

We had been talking about going there for more than 50 years... and were not disappointed! Had to go basck in again after lunch and enjoy more of the magic of this fabulous site, The view, the craftmanship, the atmosphere, the mystery of it all!

Intipata or sun terrace is one of those sites where one can sit for hours and marvel at the stunning view of the mighty Urubamba river and the surrounding valley. We arrived here shortly after 12 pm on the third day of our hike. Although there is not much to explore at this site, this is one of the few Inca sites which offer an unadulterated view of the valley. On a sunny day, this site is ideal for soaking in the warmth and relaxation. It is extremely peaceful and if you have the time, close your eyes for a few minutes and feel the energy of mother nature. Also, try sitting on the edge of one the terraces and take photos!
