Chris, the owner of La Capilla, made sure that our stay was nothing less than perfect. We ate most meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) at the lodge -- the food was fantastic -- and we spent time in the spectacular garden. Chris was very helpful with recommending the best Inca sites and other sites to see nearby, as well as arranging transportation, etc. Definitely the place to stay in the Sacred Valley.

News, updates and other things @ La Capilla ...... by the management.

To our valued guests - past, present and future:

We have been operating now for just over 3 years and in that time we have received a lot of feedback - most of it positive and a little bit of negative. We read all of the comments and are greatly encouraged by the positive feedback - we also endeavour, where possible, to learn from the negative.

Due to the local geography, and a poorly placed antenna in Urubamba, our Wi-Fi signal has on occasion been somewhat intermittent and weak and only available in select areas of the hotel. This has long been a concern for us- wefully understand that this is an important issue for our guests and for a long time we have been petitioning the telecom company for improved service.

AT LAST WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL!!! .We have persuaded the telecom company to install and supply us by cable, so our signal is now strong, reliable and available 24/7, everywhere within the hotel.

It is a source of great pride to us that, in general, you have appreciated the ‘home away from home’ feel to our lodge - that you feel we provide a little oasis of calm - a peaceful place where you can return and relax after a hard day’s sight- seeing in the valley. We like to go the extra mile to make your stay as trouble free as possible and we give our assistance freely and unconditionally - it is gratifying to know that you acknowledge and appreciate that.

One of our aims is to create a friendly, informal atmosphere where all of our guests feel that they are part of ‘La Capilla family’ and which we hope will encourage separate groups and individuals to mix socially with each other - and with us. To this end, our policy is not to have TVs in the rooms. Although this has generatedone or two negative comments, we are extremely pleased to see from the feedback that the vast majority of our guests agree with our policy. We do have a TV in the bar - but it is rarely switched on as very few of our guests request it. If the absence of a TV in your room will negatively impact your vacation in the Sacred Valley then we would regretfully and respectfully suggest that La Capilla is not the hotel for you.

The bar, - the Alma Pub, named after an establishment in London, - has become a favourite amongst our guests and is a focal point for after dinner socialising, where everyone swaps stories and experiences with anyone who wants to listen. For some, it is the highlight of the day and we hope that some of you have made new and lasting friends there - we would like to hear from you if you have.

In general, the ambient temperature is very warm during the day and in the evening and at night it cools down a little. Most of the time our guests are still quite comfortable in the cooler night time temperatures but for those for whom it is too cold in the room, heaters and extra duvets and blankets are always freely available on request.
There has been a little confusion regarding our location. We are not in Ollantaytambo, as one or two of our guests have assumed. We are located about 2 km (1 1/4 miles) from the centre of Urubamba – about 150m down a track off the main road. It is our location, away from the traffic, that gives our hotel and garden its distinctive and abiding sense of peace of quiet - a quality that has received a lot of positive feedback from our guests..

We originally planned to stay here our first 2 nights in the Sacred Valley but ended up extending to stay a full week because we were so happy with this place and the location is perfect for touring the valley. Rooms are clean and comfortable, food is great, the courtyard is beautiful and the hosts, Chris and Rhomina are amazing. We arrived with a pretty flexible schedule and they helped us make the most of each day. Our most rewarding days were following their advice and getting of the tourist trail. Chris even taught me to make the perfect pisco sour, a skill that's still paying dividends.

From the outside it is hard to tell what is inside, as I walked through the doors and peered at the mountains, I sensed that I had arrived at a magical place, the owners of this lodge have created a serene and peaceful atmosphere that leaves one with the feeling that “All is really well in life” The attention to details and the decor are simply wonderful. Chris is from France and has a real passion for his work and it shows after being in this location for over 13 years. Relax and know that you are in great hands with this family, the people are genuinely happy here and the staff attentive and ready to be of service, you have arrived in the Sacred Valley and have found a sanctuary, a home away from home. You may want to plan on staying a little longer if possible.....this is one of those places where time seems to stand still, I encourage you to experience it for yourself!

Room tip: There is a restaurant inside the lodge with excellent cuisine.

The place is so lovely, so peaceful, and sunny too.
The room was great -- with a view of the garden and a little patio overlooking the flowering garden with mountains in the background
And the free breakfast and on-site dinner was great too. Not your ordinary stuff - homemade cereal, homemade yogurt, eggs, bread , jam, fruit juice.
And dinners were always tasty, reasonably priced, and veg. friendly. BUT most wonderful were the owners, Christophe and Rhomina. We got to know them and the kids (and the dogs and cat too). Good people, very interesting. Christophe is always around to help with anything (in French, English, or Spanish), and he tells great stories. Rhomina is doing good work in the town. Congratulations to her for organizing the first annual gastronomic conference and for her battle against eucalyptus trees.
And another thing, it is so well-designed so that large groups have a separate 2nd floor dining area and a separate building too. Oh, and did you notice that the rates are really reasonable (pay cash and get a discount). The best place ever!

Room tip: some visitors are disappointed that there is no TV; some prefer a place closer to town. Then this isn't for you.

This hotel is just a little bit on the outskirts of Urubamba and is run by a Frenchman and his half Peruvian wife. The room is quite large with wonderful shower. Strong water and plenty of hot water something sometimes lacking in our Peru experience. It was July so the room was cold at night but very heavy blankets were provided so we were warm and snug. Beautiful grounds felt like a resort. The owner is a chef and provides dinner onsite if ordered ahead. They also have a sort of pub with drinks and pub snacks available. We had fries and popcorn in the large common area. Credit cards are accepted. We didn't have success with getting the WiFi to work
