In the CITC shopping center area. Great local fruit smoothies. Went a second time for late lunch at 3p and was told they were closing . It’s not just them ,The shopping areas close by 4p pretty standard.

Lunch under the colourful Flame-tree
Having Breakfast or lunch at the Salsa Restaurant in Avarua, has been a real treat for my wife and I for several years now. Whenever we come for holiday, we stop by and enjoy a delicious meal under the flowering Flame tree (November-December). The food tastes yummy and has been so consistent over the many years. The service is good, friendly and professional. We certainly hope to come back to this lovely Restaurant many more times I prefer the toasties as well as the Pizzas! Coffee is good and served in a large Mug! Beautiful Island in future.

We ended up at Café Salsa having found the waiter at The New Place so grumpy we didn’t stay there to eat.

Next time we will go straight there as we had a wonderful breakfast. We both ordered poached eggs mine with bacon, his with ham and with a potato cake. There was hollandaise sauce on offer which we declined. Am pleased we did as the eggs were perfectly cooked with great tasting bright yolks and it would have been a shame to bury the taste under sauce.

He had a double shot flat white while I indulged with an iced mocha with ice-cream – for breakfast would you believe? It was decadent and delicious and I didn't feel the least bit guilty!

There were already a few people eating when we arrived. The staff were friendly and efficient and it was one of the most enjoyable breakfasts we’ve had for a long time. This café is always busy whenever we pass by while in town so we’re obviously not the only ones who think it’s good. We highly recommend it and will be back on our next trip – maybe for lunch as well as breakfast.
