For some reason, some people think that this is a building. It is not. It is the street that winds its way steeply down from St Michaels’s Cathedral to the really nice 19th Century district of Podil. Some of the buildings are quite nice but the stalls mostly sell tourist junk. It is when you reach the bottom and the fabulous markets of Podil on a Sunday that you come across the real Kyiv. Podil was so much better than Andriyivski Uzviz. It is one of the few areas in Kiev that was not seriously damaged in WW2.

You will have to pay a small fee for entrance but it is totally worth it. What an amazing church, just wow!! also you will have a wonderful view over Kiev from Andriyivski Uzviz.

Close to Hyatte and Intercontinental hotels, in the center of the city, easily a full day of historic, culinary, art and crafts experience.. Andrei church and Sophi basilica are close to each other and a “must see”, many restaurants, crafts market and paintings bazaar... walk down the hill and you’ll end up in a historic Podol and River port

Uzviv is a street. By day there are a lot of artists and painters. By night it's a good place for a walk, with beautiful vievs.

... at least from the outside as the church is separated by a gate and you have to pay for the entrance. I didn't want to, therefore I just saw it from the street but it is simply amazing, looking like a palace.

This place is amazing, it was a pity that it was closed when we went there. Anyway the view is beautiful as well.

Due to works currently taking place, we could not go inside but could admire the beauty of this place from the outside. There are lots of souvenirs to buy here - but be aware that this would be amongst the most expensive places to buy souvenirs in Kiev.

Apparently the Princess built this cathedral to eventually get married there with her lover. However the wedding never happened. Beautifully refurbished, Andriyivski Uzviz dominates Kiev student quarter and adjoins Andriyivski descent that leads many coffees and restaurants.

If you are in search of a decent painting - go to Andriyivski Uzviz! It’s a place to be for such things. You have really a great choice there.
The same is true for a huge variety of souvenirs.

Biggest church in the city and on the side of the nicest walk to Podil. Cobble stone roads lead up to it. Next to one of the best views in a park. Great place for shopping for historical good, including war stuff.
