This had been our biggest nightmare so far in Panama. We took s taxi from casco Viejo and as the park is hugeeee they wanted to drop us just somewhere and we can walk. Came back to hotel. Took a new taxi and another 30 USD each way. Walked through the wild 2km to reach a tower that cost 30 USD to be above the trees. Fyi if u want to see birds gotta make it 630am (but trip said it opened at 830). So this is between a rip off and an innocent shambles. We suffered and luckily managed at least to see a monkey

Birding in the jungle/forest along the Canal is superb! Even in the rainy season, there is lots to see and do. There are many areas where you have easy access -- beware, that there are also quite a few dirt roads, and in the rainy season, these can be difficult to navigate. Facilities are a bit limited, so know where you're going and what is available.

Soberania Nature Reserve, containing the second largest rainforest in the western hemisphere. The rainforest is home to more than 100 species of animals and 1,300 plant species and is only a 20-minute drive from the capital, Panama City.

From the Rainforest resort in Sobernaina National Park I took the Aerial tour.

It was good - but for two main reasons:
1) The incredible view from the top
2) Was able to hear and then see many Howler Monkeys

However, you may do this tour and not see any wildlife at all, so it is a gamble - wildlife not guaranteed. We only heard - and then saw - the Howler Monkeys - and the view was great so gave it a 4 out of 5... without wildlife - then a 3.

We took a Pipeline Trail tour with Miguel Ibarra from Panama Road Trips. Our group was just my two children and myself. It is so worth paying for a guide! We spotted lots of birds, howler monkeys, white-face monkeys, agudis, coati mundis, frogs, saw feline paw prints, and beautiful trees. This park is easy to get to and should not be missed!
