Best Residence Inn

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 7, 2019via mobile
Very helpful Manager and staff, clean building (hotel is 10 years old, but went through a renovation about a year ago or so and feels brand new).
When we asked for some local historic information, the Manager (Scott) went above and beyond and printed about 8 pages from Wikipedia and delivered it to the room.
Breakfast (included in room price) was standard Residence Inn fare.
We will be happy to stay again at this Residence Inn.

Dear Dhanan,

Thank you so much for your kind words. I love history, so I should be thanking you for sharing that local factoid. I enjoyed researching it further for you. When you returned the print-out, I shared it with the rest of the staff.

It was a pleasure serving you and we hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,
Scott A. Laura

I've stayed here with my wife and kids 3 of the last 5 years and each time I can't say enough about how great this hotel is. The 2 bedroom suites have full kitchens that you could literally live there comfortably for a year. They have, washing machines with free detergent. Breakfast is free every morning. There is light hourderves served free 3x a week. There is a basketball court and indoor pool. A fire pit to roast Marshmellow s and a grill shoukd you want to make dinner. Everything is clean, well run, and the staff is extremely attentive and cordial. This hotel gives marriot it's good name and is a model family hotel. 5+ stars.

We’ve stayed here a number of times on our way to Canada and have had a great stay each time. We usually roll in about dinner time (well, late dinner time!) and can spend the rest of the evening relaxing. We like to make our own breakfast (I have lots of food intolerances) and then we pack up, grab a newspaper (my husband checks out breakfast) and we are on our way north. Always clean with a great staff.

Room tip: Check to see if you are near the air conditioning units on the roof

Most Residence Inns have a very good, but standardized corporate design.

You can count on a good bed, a large screen TV and a decent breakfast in the morning. That's why Residence Inns are my wife and my first choice when taking car trips through the US.

But, some Inns are better than others. This one in Auburn is among the best.

1) It's fully redesigned to the newest Marriott standards,

2) The lighting is excellent...rare for a lot of hotels.

3) The local operator has added amenities, such as extra shelves and full length mirrors that go beyond the cookie-cutter, basic design.

Add to that the fact that the manager and his entire staff go totally out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. There is always the personal touch from a caring team at every single interface between guests and staff. (I.e. The kitchen staff comes around to offer more food to late breakfast diners, housekeeping is totally efficient...with perfect care of rooms, enough towels, and "extras" like serving real food during their cookout night.)

The Auburn location also offers the perfect location, mid-Maine, to stay for an extended period of time and take day trips to other locations. You unpack once and then venture from this central point.

I totally recommend this Inn.

We stay here frequently and enjoy this property/staff. Being an elite member I always know I can count on this property for our loyalty. However, we did have one hiccup with our most recent stay. We came to the property due to an early morning appointment and test with our daughters neurologist. I reached out to the hotel to confirm that we would be able to upgrade to a two bedroom suite (a perk they almost always honor with our gold status). Given we were traveling with out three year old I was hoping to get a bigger room. The front desk agent promptly responded to let us know we had been upgraded (I did see a two bedroom room available in the app). When we arrived at the hotel staff had no idea what we were talking about. The front desk agent was very polite about it but did not seem to believe me... I than showed the front desk associate the conversation I had with them 30 minutes earlier confirming we had been given the 2 bedroom upgrade (on my Bonvoy mobile app). The agent apologized due to not having any two bedrooms available and we accepted (it seemed they upgraded the wrong guest in error). Other than this one hiccup in over 10 stays with them I really love this property. In the future I would recommend not communicating an upgrade unless you can ensure you can make it happen.
Other than this one issue I would like to personally thank Scott and the Auburn staff for always having a nice property for our stays.

Dear Safari46506,

Thank you for choosing our property out of the many other possibilities out there. We certainly appreciate your loyalty to our brand and for continuously selecting the Residence Inn Auburn. My apologies for the upgrade not being available for you this time. The team and I analyze our reports each day to ensure each of our upgraded room types will accommodate our high ranking tiered guests first. It sounds like we fell a little short on this stay, but it was as you stated a "hiccup". Errchhheacachhh...we've cleared our throats (ahhh, no more hiccups) and are ready for you to get back to the Auburn area. We can't wait to host you again!

Thank You,
Scott
