Really madly kept a pity the old town is not restored to its former glory! There are shops around that sell the same things basically and just a couple of bars and coffee shops. Not really nice at night would not recommend it

Not that touristy as, for ex., Sarajevo's - and that is a good point, no doubt about it. It is the most soulful part of a city otherwise (almost) devoid of any historical trace. It is also the cheapest zone, so you can spend all your nights eating or having some drink/coffee here and appreciating the quiet and 'local' atmosphere.
As for the shops...did not see anything particular though, all of them look quite the same and mostly full with 'Made in China', or cheesy, stuff.

Typical Bazaar - if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Layout is cool, cobble stone, plenty of souvenirs -typical knock off brands. Various nice coffee shops. Etc

Best part of Skopje would strongly recommend micro brewery and the adjacent Orthodox Church (superb guide)

There is nothing special about this bazaar but the shop owners are warm and easy to talk to. They have great macedonian burger and low prices all around the bazaar. Beggars are everywhere and it may make you uncomfortable but the cafes and hookah places are not bad. You should go there to see but not with high hopes.
