This is a simple but charming resort with a great location that gives you a true sense of Nantucket. The service is hands down the best as the staff caters to all your needs and remembers your name. We can't wait to go back for a nice relaxing weekend as it's a great spot of couples looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Dear johnpaulW;

Thank you for your review. We do hope to welcome you back again soon!

While Nantucket does get very busy in July and August, our location, while central and convenient, is just perfect if you are still looking for relaxation. Our back lawn is the perfect spot, overlooking the ever changing harbor. Additionally, the miles and miles of beaches that surround the island offer something for everyone, from a busy surf spot at Cisco, to secluded areas at Great Point or Coatue.

We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Sincerely,

Bettina Landt

This famous landmark hotel is simply great, the best hotel on this historic island.

It's a place you expect to see Jay Gatsby strolling around in a white summer suit and hat,

Outside is parked is its 1939 white Lasalle.

It offers ferry service in the summer to its elegant sister property, the Wauwinet.

Dear Richard S;

Thank you for sharing your experience! We are delighted you had such a wonderful time here. Being right on the harbor, the White Elephant has received many, many guests in the almost 100 years since it's inception. While the hotel certainly is not modern, it is so beautiful and, it fits perfectly with the beauty and charm of the island.

Thank you again!

This is our third stay at this charming hotel. In fact, we stay in the same room each time (131)! The greeting in my title summarzes the welcome extended by the entire staff, but especially from Graham. It truly felt good to come back and see so many familiar and smiling faces. That speaks to the management of this property.

Katherine, front desk manager is one of those warm greetings that made this feel like home. i was happy to hear that she received a much deserved new position. Kevin is the happiest and funniest greeter/door/bellman. We had a delightful exchange every time i passed through the door.

There are certain staff members that embody the feeling you get as a guest here, with their versions of exemplary service. Leroy is here to make sure that you have everything you need. His greeting and direct questions of, "Do you need anything at all?" must be his mantra. Preston expresses the white elephant philsophy with "Let us know if we can do anything to be sure that you enjoy your stay". Brigette in housekeeping's attention to detail was so perfect; and her comment was, "You are here to relax and enjoy yourself. We are happy to do anything we can for you!"

The entire front desk staff is helpful, friendly and highly service oriented. The response and service here is fast and gracious.

The staff member that pulled our entire visit together is Ann, at the concierge desk. She is outstanding! She is the consummate coordinator and her recommendations are perfect. She can juggle appointments and reservations with ease and so much attention and logic. You don't have to tell her the fine points. She already thought of them and solved for a perfect itinerary. She goes above and beyond to get answers and options.

Thanks to all for another perfect stay at The White Elephant.

Room Tip: Room 131 offers a lovely breeze from the coast in the bedroom and the street side patio is interesting and very quiet at night!

Dear Tina S;

Thank you for your amazing review. Graham, Katherine, Kevin, Leroy, Preston, Brigette and Ann as well as many, many amazing people here make the White Elephant what it is. I count myself as very, very lucky to be working such a wonderful team.

My family of four plus grandparents loved this place. Very picturesque and classic Nantucket appeal. We did not eat at restaurant on property because we wanted to get out and see the island.

Rooms are adequate and fake electronic fireplace is better than I thought it would be.

It's a great spot and has no real or tangible weaknesses. The "cheese and wine" hour is a fakeout ....just buy your own and sit on your porch

Dear dtrain7;

Thank you for coming to stay with us. We love to hear that you all had a great time, little kids to grandparents. It is not easy finding a place that works for everyone! Our location, blocks from town and children's beach really offers a nice setting for an easy transition from one activity to the next.

We hope to see you again soon, and we will look into our port and cheese service, which is a popular spot every day!

My wife and I visited Nantucket with our daughter and her family recently. It was our daughter who suggested that we stay at the White Elephant and I cannot thank her enough. Everything about this hotel from it's location to the staff to the top drawer experience we had was outstanding.
We were met at the high speed ferry by a member of the staff who whisked us to the hotel were we were sincerely greeted by the front desk. We had arrived earlier than planned and our room was not yet available, but this allowed us to enjoy lunch in their wonderful restaurant, the Brant Point Grill.
Our room was clean, up to date, and spacious. The bathroom was large and the bed was comfortable. Everywhere you turned there was quality from the solid wood doors to the bathroom amenities. We spent many a restful hour reading on our private balcony enjoying the beauty of Nantucket.
This hotel is not inexpensive, but there is true value in each dollar spent. Treat yourself to a stay at the White Elephant while visiting Nantucket.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am happy to hear that your daughter's recommendation of our hotel worked out so well! We do get a nice amount of multi generational travelers here and we enjoy seeing the different generations spend such quality time together on the island and at the hotel.
