We stayed at this hotel two times (going and coming from Lake Antigua) in October 2012. We have stayed here before. The hotel has a fabulous location--just a couple blocks to the main square. The rooms are large. We were traveling with our son and had a room with 3 double beds -- It was HUGE. I love the view from the roof (make sure to climb up there to see it). I found the front desk and door managers to be exceptionally helpful. They came up with scissors for us, bandaids, called for reservations etc.

I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you ask for a room on the second floor you can sleep with your windows open. Otherwise-the windows open to the street.

I have stayed at this Hotel several times, mainly because I like the people who work there, and it is located 2 short blocks from Central Park.
The rooms are not luxurious, nor overly spacious - but they are comfortable enough and true to the reason anyone travels to Antigua Guatemala.
Surprisingly, the rooms are quiet; and there is free WiFi, although I hardly ever find the time to check my laptop in Antigua. The gardens are beautiful, and there is usually a Marimba band playing close to the entrance.
The restaurant serves authentic Chapin food, although I think that they have raised the prices, although the view from the restaurant area (onto the garden) is beautiful; and the lady making tortillas on site is exotic and interesting.
There is parking across the road, although acces is slightly difficult on weekends when the street is closed to vehicle ttraffic - but there is someone close by to open the narrow doors when required.
A charming place, but not luxurious. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I usually ask for a room on the 2nd floor of the interior cuadrangle - preferrable on street side so that it is less dark - but rooms are "first come, first served", so get their early!

The Posada de Don Rodrigo captures the feel of the old colonial atmosphere setting the right mood for your stay in Antigua. It was in a great location with the ability to walk to many of the city's attractions.

I have stayed at this hotel several times now and absolutely love it. All rooms are beautifully furnished, service is stellar. and they even have wi-fi connection. This is about as good as it gets, for a price this reasonable, in Central America.

It's true that not all rooms come with good views, and if you get a room near the street, you will encounter some noise at night. If these things matter to you, ask to be placed upstairs.

I particularly like their restaurant. The dinner show, featuring native Mayan dancers in full costume, is very fun the first time you go, a little boring on subsequent visits - but definitely not something you will find in the States. Order the crab and shrimp fettuccine. You won't be disappointed.

Antigua is the most European-like city in Guatemala, and staying in this part of town feels like spending a night in Madrid. I look forward to many future visits to Antigua and to this hotel.

Stayed in Antigua 3 days. The hotel is right in the center of the city. The building is beautifully renovated and the rooms are excellent.
The staff is very helpfull and accomodating. We could even get some breakfast before 6 in the morning. The show in the restaurant is a bit over the top but the food is good.
