Great architecture. The fountain in the back is worth the visit, especially if you have some time to simply sit on the second story and chill out.

“It reminds me of a yellow wedding cake. It's beautiful!”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

What a center of activities La Merced church is!! The place is buzzing with people and not all of the tourists. Every time I went by and a Mass was being celebrated, the church was packed even at 8pm on a Sunday!!!
I was able to witness a wedding on a Saturday morning and observed the Guatemalan traditions for such an occasion!!
Do not miss visiting the adjacent buildings (you need to pay a small fee) and admire the biggest fountain I've seen in Antigua. Climb up to the terrace and enjoy the great views of the volcanoes and hills.
Take your time and discover this wonderful site.

“Beautiful Exterior”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

Beautiful from the outside, but not much to see once inside. Fortunately it was cheap ($1). Beautiful architecture from the outside though & definetely worth the pictures at night. Great view of the town from the roof-top as well.
