On celebrity constellation cruise, we (3couple) decided to do a private tour. We made a great choice ,Met Katja outside port terminal. Made a short walk to the medieval area of Split and the Diocletian Palace. She suggested do the substructure of the Palace. What a great experience. 42 kuna pp but you can use a credit card. We did learn that some cafes etc will only take kuna..ask before sitting down. We had exchanged Euro for HRK in Zadar..ship did not have HRK..but banks available. We explored the medieval area of Split with Katja. Then we met our driver, we drove to Salonae. Interesting ruins of Roman times. You need 30 HRK pp to enter. We had decided to see an interesting mill outside of Split, instead of Trogir ( another walled city). We drove off the beaten track to The Antonicin mill is a family owned flour mill. You see the mill actually working. Surrounding area by river very picturesque. We chose to eat the traditional "peke", a meat dish prepared with vegetables on an open fire under iron lid. We were greeted by the family and served liquors..ladies on much better than guys. The Games of a thrones was filmed here...so they had pictures of the film crew during their time there. If you order the "peke" ask for beef or chicken ...we had veal and there was very little meat. We felt staff should have been more attentive to us. We were the only people there. Long lapse in time between salad ( tomatoes & cucumbers), bread and wine arrival. At 20 euros a person except for the experience, thought it was a little high.

We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour. It lasted only a few hours but we found it truly educational and valuable.

We had a great walking tour of the old city and Diocletian's palace on our mini break to Split end April. Our party of eight was escorted by our tour guide Katya who gave us a great insight into the stories behind the people ,statues, monuments , Palace and Cathedral of Split. We even got to listen to the A Capella Croatia singers in the vestibule of the Palace an unexpected treat! definitely a highlight. We were enthralled by the history of Split and its settlers and how Palace played its part in the development of the city. Katya also showed us how to easily get to Marjan Hill .These are Hills and Forests 3km long within a 5-10 minute walk of the City centre - giving amazing views of the City and seafront plus a respite from the hectic hustle and bustle of the narrow busy streets. We highly recommend this walking tour of Split.

Lucky for my husband and me to have two days in Split and to have Katja as our guide both days! She showed us some amazing sites including those on the tourist path and some not on the tourist path. Each day Katja explained history, architecture, politics, economy and food. She organized a fantastic visit to a agritourist mill where we had a luncheon prepared especially for us. Needless to day, we would highly recommend Katja as a guide!

Dear Eileen,

Thank you for your kind words and little Colorado gifts. I cherish nice memories of time time spent with you and Jay. It was my pleasure to guide you in Split and help you discover some of our hidden gems here in Dalmatia. Warm regards from Split, Katja

We visited many cities in Croatia last month and did personal guided tours in most of them. Without question, Katya was the best guide we had in any city. She was so knowledgeable about everything she showed us. Simply being knowledgeable, however, isn't enough. She was personable and made everything extremely interesting. I'm sure she has imparted the same information to thousands of people, but she made it sound as if we were the first people she was sharing this wonderful history with. Our hoteliers at Palace Judita said they would only arrange a tour for us with a guide they knew to be good and, boy, did they ever!
