We stayed one week in Dubronik at Lukre Room and the trip was just perfect ! Excellent location, the room was very clean, pretty and the view on city walls and sea is wonderful.
Beyond housing, this trip gave us a nice meeting : Livio and Marilyn. Both made that our holidays be a success! Warm welcome, high availability and the excursion « oyster and wine » will stay a great remember! More than a touristic discovery, this beautiful meeting has allowed us to know and understand better Dubrovnik, her history, her culture…Enjoy your journey in Dubrovnik with Lukre room :)

We stayed in Room Lukre for 4 nights in end April and had a very good experience. The room is about 4 mins walk away from the Pile Gate and is in a quiet side alley.

We did not meet Marilyn but she was very efficient in replying to us via email when we booked the room and also in helping to plan our itinerary. She also left a thank you note in our room one day (we assumed she was helping the guests in the apartment to check in).

We dealt primarily with Livio who picked us up from the airport and sent us to the bus station, and also drove us around for 2 day trips (one to Mostar and one to Bay of Kotor). We highly recommend his trips, they were really great. He drives safely, gives good advice and information peppered with his personal experiences and views (e.g. the war period) and he is also discreet enough to grant some personal time for his guests to explore around on their own. He brought us to some hidden gems like the Kravice waterfalls in Bosnia, and the town of Perast in Montenegro which we would have never gone to if we had opted for a day trip with a travel agency.

As for the room itself, we are also pretty satisfied with it. The bed itself is comfortable and Livio took some additonal pillows for us upon request. Most importantly, we slept very well every night.

It is true that the amount of hot water is dependent on the boiler in the toilet, but it was sufficient for a continuous 30 min period (2 persons each taking a 15 min shower). After that it takes about 30-45 min for the boiler to 'heat up' another batch of water. The seperate heater in the toilet was also very welcome to keep one warm when changing.

The below poster is correct that this accomodation should be considered as an 'apartment' rather than a B&B as breakfast is not provided. This was not a problem for us as we packed pastries from the nearby bakery on our way to the Old Town, but I can understand that if you need breakfast to be served at your leisure on-site, this would not be the place for you.

What we will remember about Room Lukre is the warm welcome and hospitality extended by both Livio and Marilyn (which included a box of chocolates) during our stay as well as the 2 great day trips that we took. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Make sure that you know how to operate the boiler/heater in the bathroom upon check-in so that you w...

My wife and I stayed 5 nights at the Apartment Lukre and could not have been more pleased. We visited from May 1 to the 6th. The beautiful Marilyn picked us up at the airport and then was kind enough to stop at a supermarket for us to shop for breakfast and other essentials. The apartment is just a short 5 minute stroll from the Pile Gate into the old town. The apartment was spotless and well stocked with everything you need. The hot water for the shower was the hottest in all of Crotia, and the beds were the most comfortable we 've had. We took two trips with the handsome and knowledgeable Livio to Mostar and the Bay of Kotor. He is a safe driver even up and down a mountain with 25 curves. We ate at the Taj Mahal restaurant and the Moby Dick restaurant and both were good. The Milics, Marilyn, Livio their children and the Crotian champion Oiidog could not have been nicer, in fact, just like family. If you go to Dubrovnik, and everyone should, then stay at the Apartment Lukre.

Room Tip: The apartment with 2 bedrooms is still a bargain for one couple.

Firstly I'm not sure why this is listed in the B & B section, these are unserviced rooms & breakfast isn't an option. Also the owners don't live on site, although I assume they must live close by.

We stayed in both the apartment & the room during our stay & while the room is fine for short stays I'd definately recommend the apartment for 5 or more days for the extra room, the balcony & the kitchenette.

The accommodation is meticulously clean which was a big plus and the location is perfect, a two minute walk to the pile gate & the old town.

What let's this place down in a major way is the beds & the hot water, both things that are top of my priority list when travelling! The beds in both places were so lumpy & uncomfortable & the pillows were terrible. I can't remember about the apartment but the 'matrimonial' bed in the room is two singles pushed together & was definately the worst bed I slept in during my entire trip.

The hot water was terrible, lucky to get 10 minutes out of the boiler before it went icy cold. I just don't understand how other reviewers haven't had this problem, particularly in the apartment....forget two people washing their hair, I don't know how a family would manage.

Beautiful city, would love to come back but would only stay here again if new mattresses & more hot water.

Dear guest ,
Thank you for your response and your opinion that will help us to improve our, till now, excelent marked service.
We regret that you are first who have that kind of opinion of our accommodation.
We are always trying to satisfy our guests and provide them pleasant stay.
I just want to inform you that in the apartment and room are new mattresses( bought this month, and good quality) , and we are very sorry because they haven't been enough good for you. You never can have mattresses that fit to all the people because some like hard mattresses and some like soft. Because of that, we bought a combination of that two types.
We have few kind of the pillows. One kind is on beds ( small hard pillow and big soft pillow), but also we have extra pillows , hard or soft , small and big, and it is needed to be asked.
Because your claim we send the expert for boilers this morning in the apartment and room and he said that temperature of the water in boilers is 80 degrees ( apartment and room has it own boiler 80 liters in apartment and 60 liters in the room). Also guests who are now in the apartment (4 of them) said that they have enough hot water for all of them. Maybe you have turn off the shutter of boiler (for hot water) during your stay or you have spend all 80 or 60 litre hot water in just one shower. Livio gave to you all instructions for the shutters, air condition, phone, safe box.., how to use it so you could feel comfortable during your stay.
Like Livio told you, phone in the room is free of charge for our guests and you could call us any time of day or night. You didn't have to think that you will disturb us, because we are always on disposal to our guests.
Like I said, we always try to satisfy our guests and provide them pleasant stay.
Once more, we regret that you are first who have that kind of opinion of our accommodation.
Best regards and wish you all the best.

We found Room & Apartment Lukre on trip advisor. It had great reviews and was so incredibly cheap that it sounded too good to be true! We stayed both in Room Lukre (3 nights) and Apartment Lukre (we moved across for the last night as Room Lukre was booked out on our last night) back in the beginning of June in 2011. Both were absolutely perfect (we ate out and only came home to sleep/shower etc so we didn't really need the kitchen in the apartment but still was nice if you like to eat in sometimes). But firstly we used the offered airport pick up, very convenient! Especially when you spend all day travelling like we did (flight came in at about 10 or 11pm and Livio was there to pick us up as soon as we got off the plane). He even gave us some quick history on our way into Dubrovnik late at night and took the time to explain how everything in the room worked when we got there to ensure we settled in ok (by this time it was about midnight).

The room as well as the apartment were both immaculate, finally we had a shower with decent hot water & shower pressure as well as a very comfortable bed, air conditioning & a gorgeous little view from the window.

We also decided to go on the offered day trip to Montenegro which was definitely an excellent decision and definitely worth every cent. The amount of history Livio knew about every place was amazing, we barely spoke in the car, we were just so amazed by what we were seeing/hearing. Since we were so quiet (compared to the screaming kids of some guests he had done a tour with on the day previous), Livio kept joking he would just have to sing to fill the silence, I can actually still hear Livio singing in my head. Normally having a private tour with a stranger would be a little awkward, but Livio made us so comfortable, it was like we had known him for years. He took us to some amazing sites that we would never have had the chance to see if it weren't for Livio & Marilyn offering these tours. We would stay here again and again, we would never get sick of it. 2 mins walk to the old town, private beach nearby, perfect location. Livio also can give you plenty of advice of what to see/do in Dubrovnik as well as good places to eat etc.

Dubrovnik was the best part of our euro-trip and we will definitely be back. Room & Apartment Lukre, as well as Livio & Marilyn definitely contributed to it being the most memorable place that we have ever been. We are already planning our next trip and will definitely be making arrangements to stay here again. Cannot rate this place highly enough, have recommended it to anyone I know thinking of coming to Dubrovnik.

My wife and I spent five nights in Dubrovnik in February and were lucky to have booked the apartment. Actually, we booked the room but once we arrived (met at the airport by Livio) we decided to take the more spacious apartment, mostly so we could use the kitchen for breakfasts. We had planned to visit one of the islands during our visit but February is a dead time there, apparently, so we cancelled and asked Livio to take us on two of his famous tours instead. We are so glad we did! The trips to Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina were terrific and something we won't soon forget. Livio was a a fabulous tour guide. There was a problem with the internet connection in the apartment so one evening Livio took us to his house and introduced us to Marilyn and they let us use their computer to take care of some important business. He also introduced us to some great wine and olive oil made by friends. And on the way to Bosnia, he took us to the town of Ston and introduced us to the amazing oysters there. We really had one of our best trips thanks to their amazing hospitality. Dubrovnik is a beautiful city but our stay was so much more enjoyable because we had Livio and Marilyn as our hosts instead of a hotel.

We stayed with Marilyn and Livio for 5 nights in September. Marilyn looked after our our reservation by email in a prompt and friendly manner. We stayed in the room instead of the apartment as we were traveling as a couple. Livio met us at the airport and provided a great overview of the city on the way to the accommodation. They have a great location. We could walk everywhere from their place ( Old City, Beach, restaurants for breakfast etc) We booked day trips with Livio to Montenegro and the Peljesac Peninsula and Korcula. The trips are not inexpensive, but we received great value. The trip to Montenegro was a full day of stunning scenery and a great meal by the sea. Livio is extremely knowledgeable of the history of everything we saw on both trips. The Peljesac trip included wine tasting, fresh oysters for lunch and some quiet strolling on Korcula. We changed our trip plans on Livio's recommendation and took the all day ferry to Spliit. Great day for Marian and I - Thanks Livio. Highly recommend Apartment and Room Lukre to anyone looking for spotless accommodation with a view and great hosts. Hope we will see you again.
