Our appartment was the one in the photo and we had fantastic scenic views of the bridge and the sea.The appartment had two rooms, two bathrooms and a big kitchen with big balcony. It is perfect for families

We stayed at this hotel as we were flying back early morning and it was easier than staying on Lopud island and getting back. The room was basic but clean and offered self catering services. We didn't use the pool and it was smaller than expected from photos but looked clean enough. The gentleman that greeted us was very friendly and even offered us homemade wine later that evening which was nice. This hotel did what we needed it to and was ok for the price we paid.

We based ourselves in Lapad outside the old town. For the next ten days, the Penthouse at Villa Erna served as our home. The owners, father and son (Akan and Alen), are extremely friendly and welcoming. Nothing seemed to be a too much effort from arranging airport transfer, to booking our various day trip activities or advising us on where to eat. The apartment itself was air-conditioned, spacious, modern, clean and serviced with great views onto the Franjo Tudman Bridge and Babin Kuk peninsula.

The apartment is well situated to exploring Dubrovnik and the local area.

It started well because despite an early arrival time due to flight times we had a room ready at 10am. Slightly disappointed after reading earlier reviews to be ground floor but the hotel is on a hill so actually we were more like 1st floor. We had a good view of the bridge, only slightly obscured by trees, in sun most of the day and our second balcony (!) looked onto the plants by the reception. The appartment was very spacious and had 2 loos to go with the 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom had enough space to store suitcases and still get round the bed. It also had a safe in the closet. The second bedroom had two singles in - plenty of room for the kids. The main room had a sofa, dining table and chairs, TV and DVD player, selection of games and a well equipped kitchen. Everything was in good working order and had things like toaster and microwave. The main balcony was big enough for another table and chairs and they provided a drying rack with pegs. They kept it spotlessly clean and the cleaner visited daily. Alan was very friendly although the reception desk was rarely manned - it being the start of the season. The pool was shaded and too cold for me and my daughter (because I'm a wuss) but I suppose that's a benefit in high season. It would have been nice if the pool bar had opened so we could have a drink after the children went to bed but I never saw anyone there.
The hotel is on the Babin Kuk peninsula. It's a 20 minute bus ride from the town centre and is obviously a tourist resort. Go left out of the hotel and 10 mins walk has you down to two beaches (Coral and Copacabana). Go right and then left and you have a local minimart. Go right to the main road and down the hill about 10 mins and you are in the main resort centre packed with restaurants and other facilities.
All in all this was a lovely appartment in a lovely resort and I would highly recommend it to anyone else thinking to visit Dubrovnik, with or without children.

Room Tip: All rooms were good although higher up offer better views.
