This property was chosen by host as they were offering good range of Desi food in clean atmosphere. Overall food quality was average unfortunately section we were allocated was bit Hot due to low air conditioning. Staff is courteous and helpful overall 3* experience

#Salt’nPepper #HighTeaBuffet #DHA #DesiTidbits #Karachi

Metaphorically speaking, the DEAL on "All About Karachi Food" web page proved to be the last straw on proverbial camel's back and dragged us to Salt 'n Pepper Village restaurant at DHA where we couldn't go due to one excuse or another. But this time around the glitter of a discounted deal (Rs595 pp for Hi-T buffet) was too bright to ignore!

While facade of the building and reception area trigger your nostalgic memories, the inner set-up puts damper on your enthusiasm. The reception area is painted with glitzy multicolors and decorated with tools/utensils used in daily village life such as Lassi churning vessel, hand-operated water well, bullock cart wheel, hand-woven fabrics, cushions, so on and so forth.

Given it was a December evening but with the ACs switched off, ovens/burners in serving area turned on, and the sunlight insanely trying to break thru the huge window panes the interior felt uncomfortably warm. Additionally, the furniture and sidewalls have patches of varnish & paint depicting as if an old hag of past stunning beauty is trying to hide wrinkles & withering skin with cheap make-up. ♨️

The serving area is an enormous oval-shape set up with varieties of lunch & evening tea items, mostly Desi tidbits that you would occasionally like to have between meals. Desi delights like Haleem, Shami Kabab, Chapli Kabab, Pakoray, Prawns, Aloo Chholay, DahiBaray were abundantly lined up with majority of items fried on the spot. Also, chutneys, salads, Naans were aplenty. Dessert table too was reasonably filled with items like puddings, Jalebi, Kulfi, Halwa, Kheer and much more.

Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Our booked table was close to a window which felt warmer so we requested for another spot and they relocated us to a better table. Soon it was Maghrib time and my wife & I wanted to say our prayers. They arranged that too for us in an isolated corner in the reception area. This shows the level of cooperation rendered. Not bad if you can ignore a warm environment and a made-over interior. I'm sure dinner time will be lot better!

All most all foods were average in taste and quality while Paya was so poorly prepared that the dish lost the taste. The same with many dishes. I cannot recommend it for the nice class people however villagers and kacchi abadis people may like although taste is an universal phenomenon.

i went with my family with children. the breakfast menu was not very elaborate where as they had increased the price more then double to what they were serving recently. since we had children with us they wanted to go to the kids play area which was very dirty and the management said the caretaker was not present because it is Sunday.the management needs to look into this
