Spent 3 days with a small group-friends- in the lovely hotel in this fantastic city!
Although frequent worldwide travellers, we rarely experience the outstanding service provided by the Bel air boutique Hotel. The canadian manager Jean Paul is quite obviously dedicated to the success of the hotel and to the wellbeing of his guests and the staff are charming, displaying what appears to be a genuine interest in caring for guests without being in any way obtrusive. The staff is friendly they do all their best .

The hotel is beautiful, the lush garden is impeccably maintained and the atmosphere serene. The location is perfect – a quiet section of the Mekong River right at the old bridge. The most attractive part of the main street of Luang Prabang is just 5 minutes’ walk through the old bridge.

We loved Luang Prabang it was all more than we expected from this tiny city. The hotel is very special, the enterieur of the rooms were unique, great style even the color of the amenities were matching to the atmosphere. Just loved the whole thing. If this hotel would have a pool ( it deserves one) it could be rated more than 4 star!

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same type and location, cannot choose.

Yes, it is true, our location is probably the best in Luang Prabang for peace and quiet on a riverside. We are near the center but far away enough to ensure a consistent atmosphere of tranquility. Guests report they are happy to return to Le Bel Air after a day of touring. And, with our new swimming pool installed in the garden this July, perhaps guests will enjoy spending their whole days at the resort. We certainly expect our restaurant to become much busier. We stayed here late February 2013 the first experience on our South East Asia tour and Luang Prabang was a gentle introduction, we didnt really meet the manager but we had an issue with the bathroom and it was sorted out with minimum fuss and very quickly. The location was fine we had fun tackling the old bridge; walking and cycling across and just for a change we went across the bamboo bridge walkable from the hotel.
There was some noise from nearby bar/club but it quietened down later at night and really wasn't an issue for us. LP is a pretty quiet place at night and not really for revellers.
Breakfast was good in a lovely location with friendly service . Bedroom style was comfortable but rustic feel in the standard rooms. A good stay would definately return.

Yes, our Classic rooms are our most modestly priced rooms and they are perfect for those who require simple lodging and expect to be touring around Luang Prabang for the majority of their time. And it's true, we are across the Namkhan river from a fun spot which features many restaurants and bars. Sometimes the noise carries over the river but slightly. One can hear it outside but not while in a room and these bars close by 11pm. Thank you again for sharing your experiences at Le Bel Air with the world. I wish I could have made your acquaintance however I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and 'would definitely return.' Thank you again.

We were very impressed with the personal touch and local knowledge displayed by the newish Canadian manager: Jean-Paul. It's a shame the staff and facilities are not yet up to his standard, hopefully in time Jean-Paul can whip them into shape. I would have given a 3 staff if not for Jean-Paul.

We booked for 4 nights and had to depart after one. The primary reason was the slow internet connection. If you're only in need of email and web pages, you'll be fine. If you need to make a skype call them you will have zero options on this property. We were disappointed due to the premium we paid for this property. Our secondary reason for checking out early was due to the nearby open-air karaoke that characterises too many hotels and resorts in Luang Prabang. I had to stick the ear plugs in just after midnight, so no idea what time they finally ceased their out of key crooning. Our next hotel wasn't much better, but was less than half the price and was fast enough for a very high quality skype voice call in various locations on the property, and it offered a pool.

The staff picked me up late from the airport, which I didn't mind much after we were upgraded for free as compensation. I didn't appreciate the staff lying about their reason for the late pickup. 'Bad traffic' is excuse that doesn't hold much water in LP. The airport is near the hotel and there's VERY little in the way of traffic on their roads, especially at the time of my arrival.

The rooms have been renovated to a high standard for LP, with only the combo bath / shower showing corners being cut in the workmanship.
Breakfast was limited but acceptable.
Enjoyed the complimentary bicycles, just ensure that your bike has a functioning light at the front for your safety.
Their motor bike hire out rate is reasonable.

Staff made mistakes and missed many queues that more trained staff pick up on. e.g. when we let staff know that we would be ready in 30 minutes for their shuttle to our new hotel, they should have asked if we would like help with our luggage. When moving our luggage from the driveway to the shuttle, they should have asked if the new unopened 2 litre bottle of water was ours rather than leaving/taking it. Lots of small things added up.

Thank you for your kind words about me and for your very thoughtful review. Like all hotels we face a variety of challenges everyday. We very much apologize for the slowness of your WIFI experience while here. Because of that we were prompted to immediately order Ethernet LAN cables to all of our bungalows as a start. These will be installed tomorrow (March 22).

It was clear you were quite busy at the time and needed a proper SKYPE connection. Us being busy at the time of your airport transfer is not an excuse for our tardiness. We simply should have found other ways to compensate even further to guarantee your satisfaction. We did not and we sincerely apologize. We only wish we could have you as our guests again soon. You would find yourself most welcome and thoroughly taken care of.

I was traveling with my husband and 6 years old daughter. it was a surprise that Jean Paul the General manager came personally to pick us up at the airport. Because we had never experience that before in other's places.
We rented a bungalow unit and it was spacious for us. We love the fresh air and the big garden there.
Though is a little further from the city. But with the free bicycle provided you can always explore the city within minutes.
We love the restaurant which was build by Nam Khan river.
We will definitely come back soon.

Room Tip: The bungalow should be the best choice.

We stayed at Le Bel Air boutique Resort for a week in February 2013 and was our first destination stop after a long flight from the US with our 4 year old son. From the moment we were met and picked up at the airport, the service was exemplary. We picked this hotel becuase it was close enough to town, but also had a beautiful and peaceful location, and it did not dissapoint. What really makes this resort special is the staff, which were extremely helpful, kind, and accommodating. Which, with a 4 year old can be challenging, but they always had a smile and made his stay memorable as well. We made several bookings thru the hotel, and all were handled professionally with no issues (I would highly recommend the cooking class!). The rooms were lovely, and I could not have asked for a better space or location to spend our week in Loas. I can be a bit picky about accomodations, and my husband teased me about how it felt to have absolutely nothing to micromanage or complain about, which was true! Thank you Jean Paul for all your assistance and also your staff for a memorable stay. We look forward to another stay someday and I hope LP keeps the same charm that we were able to enjoy.
