Whatever you do do not stay here.

We spent about 45 minutes at check in trying to tell them we had booked and paid on expedia. Their attempts at checking involved opening and closing blank tabs on google chrome over snd over again, not even trying to log onto expedia.

Eventually a manager came and told us that the person who knew how to use expedia was away and they didn't know how. We told them to call expedia and they said it's closed. We told them there is a 24/7 hotline snd they said "no. Its closed" (it was not closed).

They eventually put us in a room, which was a downgrade from the room we paid for because they had double booked that one. They said they would contact expedia in the morning.

In the morning they saw the booking and refunded us for the difference between the suite and the room we got.

Later that day, we were about a 1hr drive from the hotel and yet the manager happebed to be there and started harassing us in broken english about when we were checking out and telling us to pay. He walked off without much clarification.

We got back to the hotel and were told we need to pay. They tried to use a virtual card generated by expedia's software( for them to use with their own booking software) at an ATM and of course this did not work. So they blamed us and said we need to pay.

Our room was not at all cleaned and we had to go and ask for bare necessities like toilet paper.

I then contacted expedia, they called the hotel and I saw and heard them at reception pick up the phone and put it down within a few seconds. This happebed three times in a row. I could hear the man on the phone from the other side of the desk but the people at reception hung up and said the connection was bad.

This place doesn't know how to manage their own bookings and have tried to get money off us several times even though we've already paid. They are extremely unprofessional and do not speak enough english to communicate properly over simple issues.

Seriously, do not risk staying here.

The location of the hotel is great. It is at the center of two rivers. A few minutes away from Sisavangvong Road. They offer free breakfast. I had the fried noodles, scrambled egg, and orange juice. They also offer tours. I suggest that you book outside instead. They offered us a full-day slow boat tour with visits to whisky village, cave, and Kuangsi Falls for $45. Went along the main road and got the same tour for only $25.

Villa Chitchareune is located on a narrow lane, only 20 meters from the street that overlooks the Mekong River, and about 200 meters from the end of the Old Town peninsula. It is simple and basic, but very clean and comfortable.

Spent here 2 nights, close to the main streets and step away to the river. Nice room, clean and recently renovated, comfy bed. Rooms at the ground floor might be bit noisy in the morning because guests go to have breakfast in the garden where also the reception is located. Friendly staff!

Stayed at Villa Chitchareune from 2-6 Dec 17 in Room 202.

Lovely/friendly staff and the room though just a tad small, is well and beautifully designed/thought of, with an extremely high ceiling.

Loved their comfy bed. The AC was very quick to cool the room temp down, in fact it was too cold, had to increase the temperature up.

Very conveniently located, walking distance to many tourist attractions, Mekong river, cafe and restaurants.

To witness the 6am Alms giving, you only need to walk 20 steps from the villa gate.

We hired a bicycle from the villa to explore the peninsula (basically from Wat Xiang Thong to the Royal Palace).

I’d definitely would stay here again.
