First, I should say I have very little experience with guest houses. Second, I should say that I stayed in the 2nd Wat That Guest House, which is the "Mala Dressmaker" guest house on the other side of the little street. This is the smaller of the two guest houses, and it's run by Mala, a daughter of original owner. She was vacationing in Thailand at the time, and I never met her. But I met her family.
It was quiet, comfortable, and the people were very nice to me. Plus, they were protective of me, and wanted me to put my motorbike inside their house at night. I also got a ride to the airport with Eddie (son in law), for 30k kip, on his motorbike, rather than 60k kip on a tuktuk which they also would have arranged for me.
People in the house (Mr. Boonthan's family) spoke English pretty well. I felt that my things in the room were safe.
I also had my laundry done by the family, and there was no problem at all.
They trusted me that I wasn't going to rip them off, and I trusted them. I believe they are honest, good people.
I would stay with them again. I invited them to come stay with me if they are ever in Hawaii.More
