I mention it because it’s quite unusual for this hotel.

The staff were poor in here, uninterested to the point where I had to wander round the restaurant to find someone to seat us. I did have a reservation but it seemed to take them by surprise

Food was ok but also lacked some thing, I wouldn’t go back

As the whole group thoroughly enjoy Indian food we decided to try Amala as one of the restaurants at the hotel. Bearing in Mind we couldn't get any worse than our Imperium Experience.

We were seated very quickly, more to do with the restaurant was very quite and only 2 other guests were seated.
After the waiter left the menus for our perusal it took ages for further engagement. We had to ask the waiter for attention and to place our drinks order.
Since we had been waiting 25 minutes we decided to order the drinks and food at the sametime. No this was not within the waiters ability.

Some of us were given warm plates and then had to wait 15 minutes for the food to arrive. Pointless!

The food was so bland and poor quality but just edible.
It took an absolute age to order and then for the food to be served.

No interaction with waiters or management (Black Jackets).
Awful meal that does not resemble anything like quality Indian food.

We stayed at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray for five days and had dinner at Amala, one of the hotel's seven restaurants, on our first evening. In brief, we were very impressed by the service at the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the chef specially prepared a gluten-free and lactose-free starter, main course and dessert for my wife. Strongly recommended if you are into Indian food!

We have visited this restaurant many times, on our usually at least annual, trips to Dubai - we usually upgrade our Jumeirah Flavours to the full tasting menu, as we did on this occasion.
We both felt that overall the service was pretty poor - for example hot plates were put down in front of us with the comment “your starters will be with you in 2 minutes” - it was probably closer to 15mins before they arrived. The starters are usually the stars of the show, they usually provide the “wow” factor - in our view on this occasion they were pretty uninspiring, mainly a restricted mix from the Tandoor.
Similarly the main courses seemed to be more about quantity rather than quality, - overall we were a bit disappointed - not badly enough to complain - but not sufficiently impressed to go back again - we will look elsewhere for Indian food on our future visits to Dubai.
