The best way to avoid traffic blocks during the rush hours is to catch Dubai metro as it links all the important cities in Dubai in the shortest of time. Along way you can have quite a view of the beautiful Dubai structures.
Also it's a blessing for working people.

Why would you build a metro to serve alongside a major road? Yep, only in this torrid place, which mystifies common town planning principles!
Get ready to be a 'sardine'; with a whiff of curry and plenty of BO to tickle your senses as you enjoy(NOT) the ride.
Oh and be sure not to step over accidentally into the 'female' zone; you may have no choice as the other areas are so jam packed, and get surprised with a hefty fine!
Erm what era are these people living in?
I am sure man and woman were intermingling in the stone ages!
Chaotic place full of conflicts, avoid if at all possible!

I have ridden it a few times and it is sometimes easier than driving depending on where you want to go but have not tried it during busy times yet.

We used the metro from the airport to Dubai Mall, using the Gold class(1st). There is one carriage per train. Roomy with leather seats.
Cost more than normal ticket but still cheap AED 28 which was just over £5 for 2 of us. If planning several journeys it works out cheaper to buy the rechargeable card.

Overcrowded and a bit pricey compared to other major cities, but still cheaper than taking taxis everywhere. However we opted for taxis because we felt the extra money was worth it for comfort. They have a women and children’s section which is helpful because the men’s section can be like a sardine can.
